Having been a big fan of Martins last film Catching The Impossible made with the legendary Hugh Miles was eagerly awaiting his next instalment Seeking Shadows. Let’s just say with this latest instalment, that a bit of Hugh’s magic must of rubbed off. The student certainly learnt a lot from the old master in the three years they spent together making that.
The filming and editing on Seeking is superb and I lapped up every minute. It even made me want to go carp fishing in the depths of winter which is something I rarely do, preferring to pike, perch and chub fish.
However I must warn you, watching the film will fill you with jealousy!! For being a syndicate member on Milton Abbas where the majority of the film was made would surely be on most peoples Christmas wish list after having watched the film. The place certainly came across on camera to look like my idea of fishing heaven. One day maybe? What a place!
Without spoiling it for you, some of the captures for Seeking are mind blowing; two in particular stick in the mind – the Common and the Blue Shark. Yes I did say shark. The footage is awesome!! Having chatted to Martin about this I do know they made their own shark cage to do the underwater footage out of a shopping trolley…….nutters! But hey the end result rivals anything you’d watch from Sir David Attenborough I kid you not. That’s all I shall say, you’ll have to watch it yourself.
Ask the missus, girlfriend, mum or your dad to get you this for Christmas and I assure you, you will not be at all disappointed, jealous maybe!
Martin will be at both days of the Carp Society Show at Sandown or to order your copy go to http://www.martinbowler.co.uk/shop
Bring on Part 2.
