LOCATION: Ship Lane and The Hatches, Frimley, Surrey. GU16 6HG
SIZE: Pit 1: 11 acres Pit 2: 3 acres
Pit 1
An attractive lake packed with features including islands, bars, pads, shallows and bays which offer marvelous specimen angling for fish in the 15 to 27lb range. A big head of fish are present, including typically stunning Frimley commons and some large, heavily-plated mirrors.
The fishing is not too challenging and most basic rigs and baits will catch. A very good head of tench and bream are present together with pike to double figures. Although the lake is generally shallow it does ensure action, even in the colder winter months when a slight rise in temperature regularly brings the carp on the feed. Birdlife is prolific on this lake and anglers are reminded to be aware and must ensure that no conflicts occur.
Pit 2
A relatively small lake of three acres, but another terrific mixed fishery with plenty of carp to good doubles and an excellent head of fish over the 29lb mark. Bream, tench, rudd, perch and crucian carp make for high-quality water for the pleasure angler too.
The island situated towards one bank is an understandable draw for anglers and fish alike. With lots of overhanging trees and marginal cover, the fish can be caught from under the rod tips, to halfway out in the lake. The lake comes into its own in summer, with float fishing for all species popular.
