On the 26th and 27th November some of the Visionbaits lads decided to get together for a session, so Blue Pool was the ideal choice as it can be booked exclusively with plenty of fish to go at.

The first night was fairly quiet but the fish were showing a lot and we all had plenty of liners, so the fish were at least moving about. The first run fell to Darren on the LTM, on a bag fished up to an island directly in front of him. When he got it I was a little surprised how big it was and it turned out to be the biggest fish that I’ve seen on the bank from the Blue Pool at 28lbs 8oz, so that was a great start for him. His mate, Mozzer, also managed a 16lb'er from Peg 2 but for the rest of us it remained fishless despite the fish activity in the area.

The next day saw me going for it by putting a nice bed of bait out while Darren was sneaking around with a rod which paid off for him some hours later. He got some fish feeding and managed a nice 19lb'er and quickly followed it up with a 17lb'er, literally feet from the bank. Determined not to be outdone I had a good look round for some fish in the usual places, as there are a handful of marginal spots that hold fish virtually all the time. I stood in a gap in a particular bush for a good five minutes, and, after a while I could just make out some shapes moving about. It was funny as the water was gin-clear but it was hard to spot the fish due to their colour as they blended in with the bottom. I walked back round and got a rod on it, but instead of putting bait out I just placed a LTM 12mm tipped with corn and a 2p-sized bag of matching pellet and crushed freebies. Not long after I was away with my first fish and on the mat I was greeted with a nice long, well-proportioned fish of 20lbs 11oz.

That night Alex on the grass bank hit it off, firstly with a 24lb'er on the mag-aligner followed by a scraper-20 on a single hookbait placed across to the far margin. I also weighed-in with another of 22lbs 4oz from the margin spot in the night while Darren wrapped things up with another double-figure fish, only this time a common. Even though we had gallons of maggots with us, as the Blue Pool fish love them, only one was caught on them, while the others were caught on LTM with minimal bait.

In total we had five 20’s to 28lbs 8oz, and four doubles to 19lbs 7oz, which was a result considering it's approaching December.
