History
The company that is now CEMEX Angling developed out of the sand and gravel industry and began life back in the late 1960's as Halls Angling Scheme, or HAS, part of the Hall and Company building materials group.

With the acquisition of Hall and Company by Ready Mixed Concrete Ltd in 1969 the angling scheme grew rapidly and the number of waters offered were both diverse and of an exceptionally high quality.

The angling scheme was designed primarily to provide a visible, popular and easily sustained leisure after-use of sand and gravel pits within the ownership of the RMC Group and the venture was an undoubted success. Anglers flocked to the newly opened fisheries to enjoy excellent angling at a low cost, in attractive, newly landscaped surroundings.

Some of the fisheries on offer to anglers back in the 1960's as part of HAS will be familiar names to anglers today and included sites such as Wraysbury One and Two, Yateley, Kingsmead, Sutton at Hone, Theale, Burghfield, Frimley, Papercourt and Fishers Green. The prices will not be quite so familiar though with the cost of a permit for a single venue costing 4 guineas, for a group of venues, 7 guineas and a full permit for every fishery, 13 guineas.

In 1970 as the extent of the angling scheme grew HAS was renamed Leisure Sport Angling and moved from RMC head office in Feltham, Middlesex via a tackle shop in Staines, Middlesex to the newly created Thorpe Park in Chertsey, Surrey.

Leisure Sport Angling, or LSA, continued to develop the original HAS philosophy of offering 'traditional' style angling venues but many of the fisheries were changing in nature. There were fewer fish, the fish that remained were growing bigger and LSA, via venues such as Wraysbury One and Yateley, was gaining the reputation of having the finest portfolio of big fish waters in the country. Indeed, no fewer than five different British Records fell from company fisheries.

1997 saw the start of the next major change for the company as, with the sale of Thorpe Park, it moved 'back to its roots' and returned to The Feltham office from which it originated. Then in 1999, as part of the newly created RMC Aggregates (Southern) Ltd, a move was made to our current headquarters in Lightwater, Surrey. To coincide with the move the change of name to RMC Angling was made to reflect our parent company and to mark a starting point for a shift in emphasis of the entire angling business.

The angling business has continued to thrive and with the purchase of RMC Group by CEMEX in 2005 and a relocation to CEMEX House in Thorpe we are fully focused towards serving the requirements of the angling market in the 21st Century.

CEMEX Angling
CEMEX Angling is the largest commercial angling organisation in the UK currently offering over 70 mature, fish-filled lakes and 20 stretches of river. Whether you are a pleasure, match or specimen angler we can offer you a fishery where you may park securely, enjoy excellent surroundings and wildlife... and catch the fish of your dreams.

There is more to fishing than just catching fish and at RMC we believe in working in harmony with nature to create environments in which fish thrive and in which anglers can enjoy the very best possible sport in the most natural surroundings. The landscaping and restoration of our sites has won both national and international awards and the quality of the angling is equally as impressive.

For the carp and all round big fish angler CEMEX Angling still offer specimen fishing that is difficult to better and venues such as Yateley holds carp in excess of 50lb with many, many venues holding 30lb and 40lb specimens. Catfish to over 60lb swim in Yateley and Horton and double figure tench and bream abound in many of our fisheries including Frimley, Fishers Green, Paparcourt and Yateley. Pike to over 30lb have been caught from a number of our fisheries and roach and rudd have both topped the 3lb mark.

On the rivers barbel to over 17lb are caught from Burghfiel, with Fishers Green producing good doubles together with some enormous chub may be found in most of our running waters.

As well as providing the very best opportunities for the carp and specialist anglers CEMEX Angling are increasingly providing waters designed specifically for the match and pleasure anglers to cater for the huge demand for this type of water. The Match Lakes at Burghfield and Woolwich Green on the outskirts of Reading are particularly prominent in this respect and 100lb plus bags of fish are not uncommon on these waters during the spring, summer and autumn. CEMEX Angling is currently developing similar fisheries on a number of other sites and we welcome match bookings from interested clubs or individuals.

The Pads, South and Sandhurst Lakes at Yateley have also been developed for the day ticket market and offer outstanding opportunities for fish to over 40lb.

Exciting new fisheries are currently being developed on the Copse and North Lakes at Yateley, at Ringland, Eversley, Stanford Le Hope and many more!

As well as providing venues for the more experienced angler, CEMEX Angling are also totally committed to the provision of angling in a safe environment for the next generation of anglers.
As part of our commitment to creating the finest fisheries in the UK CEMEX Angling spend between £20,000 to £30,000 per annum on introducing new fish to our waters. In addition, and in conjunction with Sparsholt College, we have established our own fish farming and fish rearing facilities to ensure that CEMEX Angling venues receive only stock of the very finest pedigree.
