I discussed it recently with a lecturer who read a paper on it (I believe) after we'd been discussing eel migration and some of the effects of river pollution on their migratory ability.

Have you tried Wiley or Science Direct for the paper? It may be a case of knowing the right people of course re the info but it should be there.

If you find it please let me know, Id appreciate it. And I'll do the same.

You may find it to be of interest?

Goose I'll try and get you a copy of the link / paper when I speak to my lecturer.

Best wishes - Jack.

can only find work done using hormone injection unfortunately, this technique has been used with varying degrees of success for years. not suitable for commercial production though

in nev ficklings recent article in angling times he states he buys eels for dead bait from a sustainable source pity the ea dont buy a few and restock our rivers. the eels are in decline ask any river angler to recall when he last caught one but still the ea issue netting permits for eels and also for elvers .why?

No such thing as a sustainable source for eels. According to Nev what he does is buy the ones that die in transit, which otherwise would be thrown in the skip.

EA still SELL netting permits - it's a source of income. Some EU counties have stopped all eel fishing though.
