Yeah most regulars carry a small rake during summer

Smile Thinking of joining

Im thinking of joining, many for the carp if ok have couple of questions
Is parking and car safety ok?

How busy does the lake get, as I have been at this fishing game a long time and enjoy be able to be mobile?

Is the weed a big problem?

Hope you can help
Many Thanks

Car parking and safety is good, the gate is padlocked. Not so busy weekdays, busier at weekends. It can be very weedy in summer.

Lads I love the fact that you are all raking the pit but will you please put the weed you rake by the margins to allow all the inverts and wigglies a chance to get back into the pit once thaty have been raked out? Contrary to what kensthename has just stated.
Once it is dry it can then be moved away from the waters edge. I know that the water is v.weedy and that there must be heaps of wigglies in there and that what difference can it make but if you could all adopt this method I would be most grateful.

best regards

Sorry Roo, I may have given the wrong advice regarding where to leave the raked weed. If any new members on Ricketts forllow the way the regulars rake and leave the weed they will see that the Weed wont fall back into the swim and the wrigglies as Roo puts it will be able to return to the lake. I apologise for my error.

in terms of rakes i am thinking of 2 rake heads from B&Q, jubilee clipped together with a length of good rope.

This is what i used to do with the old man years ago, seemed to work pretty well??

useful to have a length of chain attached too, to stop the rake riding over the weed.
