I regularly use both a ultralite and a brollie.
I have a lake with very small swims and its 24hours max so unless its the depth of winter I use the brollie (its lihgter and smaller) anything longer and in winter I use the ultralite.
I would say set up times are about the same as I leave my storm poles on my brollie but not the ultralite.
Its much more stable than a brollie and I wouldnt change it for anything else.
Although you will miss the ribs for hanging stuff on but not for banging your head!

Why not get a daiwa miission brollie aswell for short sessions and the summer when you dont actually need anything other than incase of an unexpected storm its 50 quid and mine has been going strong for 6/7 years and it was all i used untill i got the ultralite 2 years ago.

Been using the ultralite since it came out, specimen version first followed by the aquatex one (£250 from Climax) and it's by far the best bivvy system I've owned since I started carping donkeys years ago.

It's used all year, no g/sheet, front or skin in the summer (which means it'll go stupidly low) and back to a full bivvy for winter.

As has been said it's really sturdy, goes up really quickly (but spread the ribs first) and to me, and one of my favourite points, it's small enough for most swims. I also like that it retains a sort of traditional bivvy look.

Thumbs up

Ive an aquatexx ultralite for a few years now and can't rate them highly enough, im not one for looking after my fishing kit, and after loads of abuse its still as good as the day i purchased it, strong, quick to set up and small enough to set up in most swims, out of all my kit it's probably the best money ive ever spent..buy one you wont regret it

Pukka bit of kit mate it really does tick all the boxes cant prise them enough only one thing to watch out for is the boss section where you fit the polls to erect can come loose but some heavy duty glue solves that problem cost a little more but worth every penny!

think you have your answer mate. Ultralite is the way to go! Had mine a few years now. Only a specimen version but still going strong. had brollys and dillos before. Brolly too flimsy in a wind and got fed up of the poles and rolling in the mud with the dillo to get it back in it's undersize bag!

are they really, honestly quicker to put up and take down than a brolly [/quote]

This link should give you a good idea.
If you have the front off using as a normal brolly then i reckon you are talking less than a minute including pegs.
Notice how the shelter will stand up with no storm poles. It can be used with out them due to how rigid the frame is and the positioning of the poles on the floor.
Looks like the lad in this clip isnt excactly rushing.
Could be even faster with practice.

He does make it look hard, but its always the same when you buy new stuff.
If you time from the moment he picks the bivvy up to the last small pole, its not that long.
