catch reports please guys
only live around the corner and have ben over there a few times and never heard of much coming out
lets face it its only a short river and much of it is closed so only really the part at the wilderness thats fishable
POB you would be surpirsed what's in there then. I fished it for about five years must be 12+ years ago and we took carp to 29lb plus some lovely Pike & Eels. It was always very hit and miss once you get past the weir at the Police grounds and up towards Esher.
up that far it becomes the mole again
ember is only the stretch around the reservoir
I'm sure there are some good catches in there its just i never heard of much coming out

I've only fished the res stretch, in the Police grounds to be exact. Where is it officially the mole again is it the weir opposite Sandown?
as far as i know the ember is the part from the caravan park where the mole splits left and the ember carrys on it also becomes ea land there
the 2 rivers join again next to the bp garage at hampton court where it becomes the mole before joining the thames
Yes your right about that pob but you've also got the old stream that runs through the police grounds and the flood relief channel with the slopeing banks. There plenty of fish in it but catching them is another matter I find it fish's better in the evening. My son had a barbel at 12.2lb. All your pb's can be found in the Ember and bettered apart from the tench although they are there I have not seen them that big.

re the Tench, I never saw any in the water, but, three of us caught the same fish one year and never caught another. Going back through my photo album I had it on the 9th of October 99 at 4lb 4oz on 10ml sting hookbaits, ah the good old days.
I'm confused, watto you never saw a tench but 3 of you caught the same fish what was the fish?.
I have had a few tench from the ember over the years I even had a brown trout once

I never saw any Tench whilst looking in the water, only bream, chub, carp etc. However three of us caught the same single Tench i.e. it appeared there aren't a great number of them if we all caught the same one and never saw any whilst looking into the water.

Have one in the close family or you could marry one I guess.
The Police grounds is a nice stretch but there is a free bit just past this in the Esher direction which always looked good for a fish or two.

I had mainly Mirrors but my mate had a chunk of a common with a missing pectoral fin, very distinctive, last caught by our group at 29lb it had a massive frame and given it was 26 the previous year looked well up for stacking further weight. Love to know what it weighs now.

The little streach has done BIGGER fish than that Nick.

I can well imagine it has. I found it so hit and miss which is why I pulled off. I remember doing a massive baiting campaign and then taking a week of work and blanking solid for that week. I knew the fish were on the bait as the area was clear of any silt and normal leads would stick into the bottom and wedge into the egg box bottom.
Next month you'd go and without chucking in any bait and you have three in a weekend!
I loved the place though, pretty much the whole place to yourself and the slugs!
maybe i will have to give it another crack

We had some awesome sessions fishing for pike just below the weirs. The free stretch upstream is very snaggy on the main stretch but some pukka fish from there in the winter (pike). There is a side shot to the river which you can also fish free and there is a weir there. The road to get to it runs behins Sandown racecourse and ends near some industrial buildings. It is odd fishing but can be good, i have seen some pukka carp in there in the summer months, maybe spawning areas not sure, but only seen them in the warmer months. Above the weir there, there is a near enough slack area which goes back to the main stretch i believe and it is full of lilies, that has shown some lumps, also in the warmer months.. All along there is a pukka stalking / walking area.. Really enjoyed fishing there when i lived up there, never had any of the biger ones, but it was great fun trying.
Did an hour on the ember this evening freelining spam had 2 chub both around the 2.5lb mark. Loads of small stuff rising on the relief channel if anyone likes fishing for silver fish.
Fished yesterday evening with lunchoen meat must have got into a herd of chub had 4 @ 4.5lb before they moved on.
