Walked my dog down Rivermead Island aka swimming pool island most mornings last season and only heard of three carp coming out to mid-20s.
That said not everyone wants to tell the world about hard earned results but the majority of regular anglers on the Island target the barbel in between the pesky bream but even the barbel fishing was not anywhere near as good as recent years.
Summer-time flooding? lack of weedgrowth? Removed for the Pot!!? and/or Increased pressure may have all contributed to the poorer unpredictable fishing experienced - who knows?
No doubt, the carp are nomadic, roaming here there and everywhere. IMHO, you are probably better of searching out and concentrating on quieter spots..
Best of luck..

The swimming pool island? i don't know where that is, is that the area in Sunbury where you go over that little green bridge and you have the Thames infront of you and a little over flow river type thing that goes under the bridge so you are surrounded by water and you are on a island, i was told that this area is called Kings lawn am i correct or is it called the swimming pool island if not where is the swimming pool island.

"Kings lawn" is further upstream of the island the between the Magpie pub...OH the days of my youth staggering out of there lol......and Wilsons ferry(good punt hire for the day).....The swimming pool island is called "Rivermead island" (yes the isalnd over the bridge)anyone calling it "Swimming pool island" is showing there age....hop over the fence when the place shut on a summers evening (it was an open air pool)....more youngsters in the warmer kiddies pool at night than ever went in during the day lol.....that pool must have had more teenage man goo floating around in it than i care to think of :p . It was a Sunbury rite of passage to cop off in there of a night time.....Chef on memory lane. Above kingslawn is flower pot green then the car park with the park that leads down to the entrance to the Creek
Hi Crafty,
If you are after peace and quiet, I would stay away from Sunbury full stop in the summer months. Gets very busy down there. Loads more places on the Thames to target carp.
Good luck

Like where, i dont know what areas are run by clubs and what areas are ok to fish for free on a licence. I know that that stretch is free but don't know any where else?
Anywhere you can gain public access below Runnymeade is free
anything down from stains bridge is free to fish
was talking to the guy in londis (molesey) the other day and he was showing me some pics of his brother holding some nice carp including a ghost that he got from the molesey stretch not sure exactly where but he says they are there and thats only a short stretch to maybe a mile or so

lucky charms, only asking for a bit of advise. You proberly couldn't catch a gold fish from a gold fish bowl.

No you don't. There are loads of joeys like me catching carp up and down the Thames. Catching consistantly is a different matter and usually involves spending hundreds of pounds on bait and hours wasted spent messing about with particles then theres the time spent lashing it in at stupid o'clock which is why most consistant anglers on the Thames keep quiet.
Anyway I would personally forget Sunbury and get yourself under Kingston Bridge, there are some mahooosive kippers there.

Wrong Thread
Get your rods in anywhere between kingston and hampton court. Have seen plenty of carps along the whole stretch.
But it's much more fun to just go and feed the swans/ducks and watch the huge dark shapes swimming below in amongst the thousands of bream.
