What's your best ever fishing accidents...

I remember when I was about 14 fishing the river behing Tonbridge Casle in Kent.

I was sitting on my chair and got a bite... as I grabbed my rod I leaned forward... I went straight in the river with my chair and my rod. I spent the rest of the day with all my clothes hanging on trees except for my pants !!

Hmmm, I remember:

Cutting off the top of my thumb whilst opening a can of luncheon meat about 13-14 years of age. Still have the dirty great scar to this day. Didn't stop me going fishing the next day though with a marigold on I kid you not! Lol!

Falling in the river down a steep bank covered in nettles after the bank gave way only a few weeks after the previous incident. Wet through up to my chest, stung all over, in the autumn as well. Had to fish on wet for the rest of the day as this was long before mobiles and before I was driving!

Only thing I haven't yet done is hook myself but suppose that's put the bok on that so watch this space as I'm fishing Friday so it's bound to happen!

I remember fishing Tanyard Fisheries in West Sussex. Gone for 48 hours. Set my bivvy up and went to adjust my bed chair... stupidly while kneeling on it. My finger was by the ratchty tigheny thingy and I caugght the fleshy part where your finger print is... ripped half inch of skin from it... p**sed out for ages but as I was a true star I just kept wrapping plasters round it till I couldn't see the blood...
Plus I caught a personal best 18lb 6oz Linear

Fishing in august had a run at midnight. fell out the new bivvy and I dont remember what happened whether I knocked the rod in or the free spool wasnt engaged. Anyway cut my knee still got the marks now from 5 weeks ago and the rod went in. Managed to get it after about 30mins of casting with a heavy weight trying to hook it with a 2lb tench on which surely wasnt giving me the run.

First one & the one that still gives me the willies thinking about it was a hook (about a 14) through the eyelid when I was about 9. Bend of the hook was resting on my eye - close call that!!

I seem to attract hooks...one in the back of the head & one a couple of weeks ago in the palm of the hand....

The one in the hand....it was dark & I thought I saw a moth & swatted at it with my hand to stop it getting in my bivvy....only it turned out to be a tiger nut swinging on its 25lb merlin hooklink, which I incidently snapped on impact, putting a size 4 Centurion 2000 in the middle of my right palm way past the barb. Bit of torchlight surgery & she was out....don't they make a sickening 'pop' when you stick the point back through your skin?......where's me barbless hooks.....?
