apart from me,and of course carpy30 ;its got to be marvin hagler or the no 1 of all time muhammed ali/forum/images/icons/cool.gif
Not really the best of all time,
but one very good boxer who doesn't get the credit he deserves has to be Joe Calzaghe.
And Johnny Nelson, depended around 14 times at world cruiserweight. Gets lots of stick, but rarely gets hit!

Roberto 'Hands of Stone' Duran. One very hard ba***!d.
It's got to be the best pound for pound boxer ever and considering who else was around at that weight
Mugabi, Hagler, Duran, the Hit man
The one the only
Sugar Ray Lenoard !
If you don;t beleive me look at the Lenoard vs Hagler fight, out of the ring for 2 years and facing probably apart from Tyson the most formidable fighter ever and make him look stupid, unbelievable spped and boxing agility.
One other from these shores has got to be the Dark Destroyer "Benn" for pure knockouts !
...Benn, just for the Gerald McClelland fight.....unbelievable.... but sad.

I too would have to rate that one as one of the great fights. Another fantastic fight, that unfortunately ended with tragic results was the Chris Eubank / Michael Watson fight.
One fighter that I am surprised hasn't been mentioned is Julio Cesar Chavez. I can't think of many other boxers who have had as many pro fights and victories.
And what about Joe Bugner (oh shut up me)

Two best boxers in my opinion...
Barry Mcguigan... don't think I have ever seen a guy with so much determination and guts... awesome!!! ... and...
A big favourite of mine was Tommy "The Hit Man" Hearns.
What a punch he had. You never thought you were gonna get beat and then out of knowhere he sparked you.
Chris eubank Was mine he was good to watch and was so skilfull at boxing and when he was almost beat he did when a champion had to do!

What about Ivan Drago and Apollo Creed???
Yes they are both retiered at Dream lakes now. LOL
Dave.
Current day best, Roy Jones Jr. Absolutely untouchable, and amazing fighter, he is as close to unbeatable as there can be.
Historicaly, Sugar Ray Robinson, Rocky Marciano, George Foreman, Ali, Duran Hagler, Leonard.
So many, and like Mike said Chavez, an all time great.
Nigel Benn for me has been the best to come out of the UK, without question.
Calzaghe is top of his class at the moment, if he meets Jones Jr, he'll be beat...easily. Jones Jr is just out there on his own. Other than Jones, Calzaghe will clean up.

And who can forget Frank Bruno, he gave what should go down in history as one of the greatest performances any boxer has given......mind you, it was as Widow T****y in Alladin with Julian (Dan) Cleary......../forum/images/icons/crazy.gif

Two boxers not yet mentioned...
The amazing Sugar Ray Leonard, the most entertaining fighter ever. Anyone remember the fight against Duran when he spent a round humiliating him and Duran gave up... pure genius.
Also does anyone remember Hector "Macho Man" Comacho... He used to enter the ring in really flamboyant gear, dressed as a red indian or a G.I.... he was class in the ring though aswell... great hand speed and moves
