hoping to have a go at river carping soon and i have heard the mole holds a few carp. My nearest stretch is cobham, does anyone know if the cobham area is known for any carp?

Cheers

A m8 of mine fishes the Mole and I dont think he has had any carp in spite of catching double figure barbel and good chub/bream etc. Are there recognised carp stretches and the rest is not productive? Anyone know if the Mole has done large carp (sorry that sounds terrible, but u know what Im getting at!). Lovely looking river from what little Ive seen...

Hi mate,

They are definately there mate as me a few mates have had some this season to good sizes, i will say though it`s not easy as they seem to be constantly on the move, its literally being in the right swim at the right time.
All i can say is find a spot, Bait lots regularly and be patient as you might catch first attempt then nothing for ages.

There`s some peaches to be had.

I once had three doubles in a day on one stretch, but they seem to congregate to spawn, and then take an age to split up, and head back to their usual haunts. I walked it in the close season 2 years back, first weekend in june, and no word of a lie I counted 14 in a line swimming up river at high speed, none over 15 - 16 lb though. Have seen one slightly bigger, but not a lot, and have never heard of any 20's.

it`s one of those mate, people in the know keep it hush hush, we`ve had them to upper twenties this season, i know a few years back a guy had a brace of thirties from a local stretch.

definately there to be had.

Loads in Dorking Stetches. I've seen them herding minnows/fry etc on the Weir Sill - 10 to 20 Carp working together. Largest I've seen may go low twenty but have heard of bigger coming out from various different stretches - seek out unfished stretches - M25 as a clue!!!

There are carp in the Mole/ember I've seen pictures up to 32lb but if you mention where they were caught you get 20 bivvies on the bank for the next 3 months.

a 42lb common came out of the mole by the mouth of the thames a few years back, pics were in the AM, awesome fish.
Now would you class that as a mole or thames capture?

Hmmm now that is a riddle. Someone once said to me " If you dont know the answer, dont ask the question." I hope that clears it up for you.

Wish I had caught a 42pounder from the mole or any else for that matter, perhaps I should change it to Glyn24. I think I got bored when I got to 3 or 4 and it still would not eccept it as a user name so I went for 42 which as any hitchhiker knows is the meaning of life.
