Plenty of pike - I caught nothing bigger than double though.

As to carp a mate prebaited for some time - however he did fail to catch on many occasions.

a few carp in there best i heard of was about 24lbish could of been bigger out but not reported
loads of bream in the top half and heard of a couple of carp coming from here
the whole section is vastly under fished so there could be some crackers in there to be caught

Confirmed 23.5 Carp caught at the back end of the summer. Other than that, the river is hardly fished.

I have seen very nice Chub in there - 6lb plus!!, decent roach, Mullet, Sea Trout but no Pike although I know they are in there.

The Carp came out of the first swim where the drainage ditch meets the river and was caught by accidemt!! Not surprising it came from hear as this is where the few people who vist the river fish out of laziness.

There are some lovely looking swims and great features further down the Cemex stretch - the trick is to take minimal tackle and be prepared to walk.

If Piking there are loads of silver fish to be caught on maggot - just trott down a rod length out

Chris - has access to the stream (over the barbed wire fencing) been improved yet?

Not that many carp in that stretch, run to well over 30lb anyway. Pike are everywhere.
Fished it today and never seen it so clear in 23 years of living 80 yards from it.

In a word - NO

There is one fishable swim on the stretch by the over hanging tree. Other than that, its fight your way to the bank. Be very very careful though. In many places the vegitation reaches out over the water so you can fall through if you are not careful. Also, the bed of the ditch is very silty/muddy - don't get caught in it on a rising tide!!

Could anyone tell me if the boundry of the Cemex stretch is well defined, by a fence or sign.

I had quite a long walk along yesterday, but didn't know where it ended. Is the Nature reserve well signed when you get that far?

Any info greatly appreciated - Cheers

No nature reserve on CEMEX side - long straight(loads of reeds?) - right hand bend - ditch coming in - barbed wire fence(moveable) - river then turns left -huge eddy - bridge in sight - END HERE.

Are you saying that the moveable barbed wire fence is the limit, or can you go to the bridge you mentioned?

No - bridge is about same distance away as what you have walked!!

The end is about 1/2 way between when you join main river to bridge - still a long stretch!! A small copse starts on your right walking downstream after a large open field. A ditch also comes in on your right - this is the end. There is a huge eddy here.
