Be very careful when paying for fuel with your switch / delta cards....I've just had my switch card cloned, and between yesterday and today over £500 has been used on my card....
I'm really hoping to get this money back, but its not guarenteed - its down to HSBC to decide....
My card was cloned at a TOTAL garage in Hemel Hempstead....

Sorry to hear that mate! Hope HSBC to the right thing!

They should have cloned mine, they would have been lucky to get 50p.

you'd have thought the devious criminal minds who executed this could put their efforts to more glamourous pursuits than a total garage on hemel hempstead. do you get any insurance cover, I'd have thought there'd be some sort of protection against this type of thing...?

Surley if you can prove it was done there mate, they will compensate you in some way? Maybe free fishing petrol for 1 year?

Happend to me a few months ago.

3 transactions to mobile phone co's totalling 450 squid.

As long as you can take you card to the bank to prove you have not lost it you should be ok. Took about a month to get all the dosh back though from the Natwest.

I also informed the pigs - they were not at all interested.

My bank told me that Petrol station station are the worst place for this activity. Some of the staff sell on the card details to proffessional criminals.

I only deal in cash now.

If it's any consolation.....this type of thing has happened to my friends for things such as a yearly subscription to a solarium amongst others (!!!), and the money was claimed back......just as pointed out, it takes a while.

Cloned a card, from the numbers on the receipt.....they then went to four super markets and got cash backs...then onto Laura Ashley for another £75, then back to Tesco's for another £50
I cannot believe it, fortunatley, the bank (hsbc) are going to credit the monies back within the next 7 days..........

Sorry to hear that Lennox. I was in the same situation about six months ago. They cleared me for about £500. The card was cloned somewhere and then used for online poker stakes. Glad I didn't have a higher overdraft limit or they could have had even more.
I know it's pretty [censored] right now but i'm pretty certain you'll get it all back. I had to wait about 10 weeks through the Halifax and then one day I looked at the account online and it was all back... they didn't even send me a letter to say it was there.

Good luck mate

If HSBC give you any hassle at all. Just go straight in with a threat about the financial ombudsman service. That is always enough to make a complaints department s*it themselves. I work in a bank and people always jump a bit higher when they are mentioned! Good luck.

Thing is with a lot of garages is they are very unsociable hours and the only people who will work at many of them are immigrants or asylum seekers, you only have to watch crime watch to see how many are wanted for crimes in the UK.
Before anyone says anything I am not a racist just stating a fact.
