Once again lads, we have been requested to take the field in our normal attair for the ECHO Championship Trophy.

I hope you have all been training throughout the summer months, to keep your well honed bodies in trim. :-)


Talking of well honed bodies, mmmmmmmmmmmmm we have plans for a 2nd team taking part, but this will be of the female variety.

I have taken the liberty and appointed Ruth Lockwood as the Ladies team captain.

Things are starting to take shape for ECHO’s AGM & Annual Celebrations.

Saturday 9th February 2008-Aldershot Military Stadium, Hampshire



Following on from the success of last years’ event, the celebrations will commence at 3pm with a 5 A-Side football tournament to win the prestigious ECHO Cup. The “ECHO Warriors� are very keen to retain their title, and with interest building across the trade over the last few weeks, it will be fascinating to see who will be brave enough to enter a team to challenge them!!

The official AGM will commence at 6pm, followed at 7pm by a beer & curry evening with a very special guest speaker……..Entrance to the bar from 7pm onwards will be restricted to 120 people, and will be offered on a ticket only basis (ECHO members first) at a price of £10……more details to follow asap……

May we respectfully suggest that you consider a lengthy training schedule before even attempting to chase Dean around the park, let alone kicking a ball at the same time.

Saturday February 9th 2008


As team captain it is also your duty to ensure that all players are aware of the rules, by allowing a player to take part, the captain is confirming that a player has been shown these rules and that the player shall abide by them.

Main Rules:
- Event will kick off at 3pm
- Maximum of 8 players per squad (five on the pitch).
- Unlimited subs.
- Three points shall be awarded for a win and one point for a draw.
- If a ball crosses the side line or it hits the fence above a kick board, a throw in is awarded to the opposing team.
- To return the ball into play the player must deliver the ball underarm and under knee height. The ball must go in a horizontal or downward direction.
- A foul throw shall be called if the ball reaches above knee height or is not underarm.
- If a ball crosses the goal line by the opposition where it is not a goal, a corner kick shall awarded.
- A corner kick is taken in accordance with the normal rules of the game.
- The opposition must be a minimum of 1m from a throw in or a corner kick.
- There is no offside. Players may place themselves in any part of the playing area without any restriction.
- When a player is taking a free kick, the opposition shall be a minimum distance of 1m from the ball until it is in play.
- All free kicks that happen around the penalty area must be a minimum distance of 1m from the goal area.
- A penalty kick shall be taken from the penalty mark or from the edge of the area directly in line with the centre of the goal.
- No player can enter the area until the penalty kick has been taken.
There are no restrictions on players entering the goal areas.
- Attackers and defenders may enter the goal area and play the ball

THE GOAL KEEPER
- The goal keeper is allowed out of his goal area. Once he has crossed onto the outfield, he shall be treated as normal player.
- The goal keeper cannot take the ball back into his area from the outfield.
- To return the ball within the area the goal keeper must deliver the ball via a throw. The ball must be thrown underarm and under knee height in a horizontal or downward direction.
- If a goal keeper passes the ball to his own player the ball must be played to another player before it can be returned into the area for the goal keeper to pick up.
- Penalty for infringements of above is a free kick to the opposition 1m from the goal area.
PLAYERS EQUIPMENT
- All players are advised to wear shin pads.
- Footwear is restricted to astro turf boots or trainers. Blades, football studs or moulded studs are not permitted. Failure to wear the appropriate footwear may result in that player being excluded from play.
