Night fishing IS permitted on Theale (both lakes). Take a look at the Guide Book, or venue pages on this website which will be updated to show this shortly.

Bill.

what are you lot doing down at Theale?
Can't you catch, their easy to fool. If you can't find the spots now, you will never find them when the weed comes up. i'll give you 1 piece of advice forget the margins, to many tench.

I have only ever fished the margins, well... no more that 2 rod lengths out anyway for all my tench & carp fishing except when floater fishing.

This is not a wind up if you want to catch more carp than tench from Theale DON'T FISH THE MARGINS. One of the golden rules is to do the opposite what most people do. Over the years the carp have been under no pressure other than in the margins by tench & rudd fishermen who don't cast any farther than the end of the rod. Theale was very popular for this type of fishing. lots of bankside noise Mr carp peace & quite further out. I'am not one to shout but I did fish there last year & caught 1 or 2

phil is not taking the {censored}.the best results know to date have not been from the margins.some fish have come in fairly short range but 30-50 yards seems to be a safe and productive distance.to fish.i say safe because this place gets stuffed full of weed and you have not got a boat on site to haul them out of the weed like horton.

Hi blobby
nice to have someone who understands & knows what they are talking about you would think these youngsters could learn, but they think they know it all can't say we told them so.

Phil - I've fished the margins along the river bank and havent had a sniff! I have a feeling where they are, and like you say, it isnt the margins. ; )

Most fish not only Carp will visit the margins at some point and it's normally at night and the margins that are not accessable by anglers. I have caught many specimen fish including bream, roach tench and carp close in at night when I have heavily pre-baited (for me) and visited the swim after dark using the stealth approach. The fish may not visit the margins that an angler is sitting in and that is why maybe some anglers do not take fish at certain venues in the margins but believe me, somewhere on that water you are fishing the fish will be feeding in the margins.
