View Full Version : other halves
how much do everyone elses other halves help them out with fishing?, mine brillant at the moment carring all my gear to my swim then helping me set it all up,then going to the local takeaway and of course getting my supplies needed for the session, as for spending money she doesn't if i need it (mind you i spent more than she knows) mind you she has always been this good, when i couldn't drive she used to get up at daft times and drive me there and then sit in the car or on the river bank while i would sit there swearing my head off and losing my rag when things go wrong, shes an angel realy
how about everyone else does your missis give you a hand with making your bait?
Stoney if you ever chuck her in PLEASE can i have first refusal...........PLEASE !!!!!!

ahhh Leon, don't go all soppy on me mate
Incredible if it's true. Mine is getting better now the kids are a bit older, progressed from outright hostility to begrudging indifference. Have a crafty plan though! Number one son is now 9 and is starting to hassle mum to let me take him out every weekend soon she will be begging me to go fishing!!
it is all true i swear if it is not, someone can have all my fishing gear!!!!!!!
(From Tom's wife) just reading this top paragraph that Tom's written, let me tell you that he would never put me before his fishing - never in a month of Sundays would he sell his fishing gear
she is one in million even to the extent of going to the fishing shop during her lunch break. although when i was matchfishing if i framed i would take her out for a meal in the evening maybe i should do the same everytime i catch a twenty
Minds a diamond if it wasnt for her i wouldnt be on here now(its her computer!) she brings down food.I fell in last feb and she drove for half an hour in the rain in the dark out in the country to bring me spare clothes at 9.00 at night!!!!!!!!! swear on my life!! most of my gear she has brought for me aswell.
Stoney your mrs isnt called stacy is she.

I may be a bit ahead of you here, my son is 3 in October and we have already been for a few sessions with a Pole to Frimley and a box of maggots, feeding the fish and the ducks. He was so pleased to catch a little Rudd that he's *made* me take him twice more.
My only question is how can I keep a 3 year old safely in a bivvy overnight?
My other half is pretty good, she helps with bait making even with monster crab lol.She will also bring down scoff to the lake as long as i'm not to far from home, last year when I my knees were very bad and could not carry a load of kit she even helped carry my kit from the car to the lake in the pi**ing rain at 4 in the morning, admitidley she wasn't very happy about it but she still did it bless her/forum/images/icons/laugh.gifSo I would have to say all in all she is great obout my fishing .She just moans sometimes about how much it costs.
Mine just ignores everything about fishing.
A bit strange really as I go about 8 to 10 days a month and when I'm not there, I'm either moderating a fishing site, writing articles/reviews or photographing rigs/tackle.
Or preparing bait/rigs/tackle for the next session.
I work most weekends, so if I've got something arranged for one of my weekends off, she sometimes has a slight whinge, but a good cuff with the back of the hand usually sorts that out. (don't forget to take your rings off, or else they leave marks /forum/images/icons/wink.gif )
Good Job mine is pretty helpful and doesn,t complain to much Rik,As at 6' 2" a good cuff with the back of the hand would probably result in me getting a damn good pasting LOL /forum/images/icons/laugh.gif
My womaaaaa is a diamond when it comes to fishing, can go when I want just laid down the laws from day 1....shes pukka, brings down bacon Rolls, supplies and comes with me now and again too, infact she;s also seen a few uncaught? beasties too........
She loves it and enjoys either coming fishing or just spending a hour or 2 visiting....
My other half ain't too bad at all... he even taught me how to fish /forum/images/icons/smile.gif
At least now he's caught up with me on fish from Sandy I can have some of my spots back.....
My doris just does not show enough interest in the boilie on the end of my rod! I think her disgust for fishing stems from when she gave me a nice framed picture of the two of us on a snowboarding holiday - great shot but I swapped it for my PB fish photo. WHOOPS!

Mines OK, but she does not like the smell of Mega Spice and Secret Agent.
Funny thing is:
A new rucksack at say 50 squid is a lot more expensive than 2 new pairs of shoes, and a few more carrier bags full of new clothes.
In her eyes anyway......... know what i mean.

Some of the responses above are unbelievable. My wife became suspicious when I took "How to Catch Carp" on honeymoon too many years ago. She was alright last season not exactly supportive but put up with it but getting a tad moany recently especially this week. The conversation at 730pm last night in our kitchen! "You only went Monday and you want to go again ! You're taking the (urine)!" "But the conditions are perfect and you said you didn't mind how often I go during the week as long as I let you know the night before!" Two hours later and dinner is delayed whilst two saucepans of Hemp bubble away on the hob! We eat at 10 and I stick Eastenders on the video and escape to the garage to sort tackle..She goes to bed at 11 and I creep around the lawn in search of lobs. Suffice to say I didnt get a satisfying bend in my rod last night but there is every chance I will tonight!! I haven't mentioned Sundays overnighter yet!!! I'll wait until she has downed a sufficient volume of wine Saturday night! Wish me luck!!

Don't start me on this one - mines done the off, and I'm left looking after our son. Don't begrudge him a second of my time, but words cannot express how I feel about her at the moment!
