Hi,

I am very annoyed to be told it is becoming a pleasure lake and think it would have been a great carp lake.

I think I must stick up for Ian over this one,he asked what the members wanted and the subject has had a lot of coverage on the forum. He has gone with the views of the majority.Lets face it there are plenty of other RMC carp waters.I'm sure Ian and Viv will make the lake some thing special.

come on lads it is a shame about the copse ,but there are a lot of waters under rmc that have fish to 35 .Ian has to catter for other anglers other than us carpers .Rmc under ian has become the top group of waters in the country for carp ,you have new carp waters turning up each year being stocked with lovely english fish .give him a break lads its a no win situation .

Maybe a waste for some but a haven for others, I think that you need a balance and Ian has it spot on, then again I do not specialise in Carp so I am a bit bias

Come on lads, carp aren't the only species and as said above, RMC have THE best carp waters n the country - you have so many to choose from.

Also, doesn't it give the youngsters a chance to try something different/new (to them anyway) ? It can be fun catching a bag full of silver fish sometimes.

Bill.

As you said it's alovely little lake but with big carp in it will be a lovely little lake surrounded by bivvi's and the people wishing to fish for other fish would not get on it.And before you say anything I do fish from a bivvi when fishing for big Bream or Tench but not for the length of time many of todays carp anglers do.In fact I often use one on the river.

You say that so called pleasure anglers, I thought we all fished for pleasure can fish for silver fish anywhere at yately? I used to fish the North & Car park lakes for Tench and bream it is now a syndicaye, I used to fish the Pad lake for the Tench, now not a chance I also used to love fishing the match lake but all I got last time I was on there was crouded out. Ian is right when he says make a fine balance for everyone, The so called "pleasure" anglers like myself will go fishing for a day where as a dediacated carp angler will sit it out for days on end and probably use 2 or even 4 rods. I have nowt against that but surely Fishing is for eveyone and not just for Carp anglers

These disagreements could go on for ever yappi, I just avoid the lakes where there are dedicated carp anglers because I do not enjoy fishing these lakes. I will stick to the lesser known waters where I can rove about searching out my fish not worrying that I am infringing on anyone elses space. You must admit that if you are fishing long range to a snag or feature and have put in a lot of bait and see a head pop up with someone fishing to that snag from another bank you are not going to be happy. I am not saying that you would do what happpened to me at Sutton 2 and also Yately twice where i was threatened and almost chucked into the lake. These experiences stick in my mind, I have had stones catapulted at me before too. This was all done by carp anglers and at RMC waters. I can see their point but if I had been asked nicely and they had taken the trouble to explain what the problem was there wouldn't have been a problem you see. One case that happened was once again at Sutton 2 before it was a syndicate. I was happily fishing at a swim on the right hand bank where the lillies are and some carp anglers set up their gear. I was float fishing for carp using the lift meathod with a float. My area which was only 2 rod lengths from the bank was bombarded with boilies first then 3oz leads. These anglers were 100 yards away. One of them came over to me and said that the lake was for proper anglers and not [censored word] like me!! I never bothered with RMC after that for 2 years. I hope this explains why I would sooner fish waters that are not frequented by carp anglers.

Congrats to you Ian.
A good little debate over the stocking of the Copse.
It's a credit to you guys that you made the effort to ask around before making a decision on it's future, although it will NEVER please everyone.
Sorry to the guys who feel they lost out but I feel too, that it was the correct decision.I can swap from *carp* angler to *pleasure* angler from session to session so it suits me with such a range of lakes available to all at Yateley.
Mind.....it's a ****** having to have such a range of gear....no room in the garage for the car anymore!

I think it is both sincere and brave for you to go with the minority at Yately with this one Ian, I think these things should be brought out into the open. I have had a lot of private replies to my post all saying the same has happened to them. Maybe these people will realise that we *pleasure* anglers enjoy our fishing as much as anyone elsem and also have just as much rifgt to fish where and when we want.

well said Ian I for one am glad you did not go along with the idea of Joining the two lakes it sounds like you do get a bit of trouble at Yateley its a shame because every one I have spoken to at Tynhersh have only spoke of how nice other anglers are up at Yateley. Do you not have balifs at Yateley?
look forward to seeing you at sandown for the winter carp show if your still going.

well I'm glad it has been sorted out. I might even have a go in the hot summer days when they are not taking on the match lake does any one know how big the carp are? If they are of a good size like low doubles I might even have a go at stalking them.
