As i fish Horton for the last couple of season i have become good freind with most of the catfish anglers who fish the Boat pool, as with most lakes if a big fish is caught most anglers reel in and come round to see or photograph it for you. But some of the size of these cats is mind blowing i have had big carp inthis country and in France but when you see a Freshwater fish in England that 5 1/2 feet long the only words are [censored] ME . My Interest in cats grown especially arfter seeing some of the fish they caught in France and Spain last year . With this keep going round my head i ask Bob & Leroy if i could come on there next trip to my delight they said yes and in 3 weeks we fly out for 2 weeks on the River Ebro with the Bavarian Guiding service. Is there any of you out there that have the same dream to catch a 100 pound + cat , during last season there were more than a 1000 cats caught with 250 of these being over the Ton mark on the Bavarian camp. The river has large heads of Carp as well as big Zander , if i blank on one of them cats i still have a chance with one of the other's

starman,
Good luck mate, you have two off the best cat men in the country to go with so you should do ok.
I dont know how they run their trips to the Ebro, but a mate of mine lost all his tackle and spent a couple of days in hospital.
He had been robbed and beaten by a bandits!!! I think you know what I mean and was lucky to be found by another angler.
Let us know how you got on and about the trip.

starman,
Is there any chance you ask Bob and Leroy if they would do an article for Angling Dairy on cat fishing The Boat Pool, most of us could do with the help.
Now you are going cat fishing,I hope you and some of the other Carp lads are going to join the Specimen group.
Best of Luck

daveh,
It would be good to have a few more pictures of cats on the profiles.
I caught that fish about five years ago, it has only got one long whisker on the right hand side, do you know what weight it is now?
Give my regards to the lads on Jones I had some good times up there.

Bob i caught this last year at 26.8 along with 4 other
smaller cats over three nights fishing lucky or what

daveh,
That was about the weight of the cat when I had it,due too the cold water they seem too reach an optimum weight and stay around that.
Did the Albino get caught last year?
Luck, I think you can be lucky but most of the time you make your own luck.
If you have the right tackle and bait, a knowlegde of the water and weather conditions, the luck is being able to get in your desired swim.
When I fished Jones the winch rig had only just been introduced, Chris Edmans took the place apart with this method, catching up too three fish in a session.
Very little of his catches were down to luck, he knew the place inside out, perfected a method and put in the time.
Hopefully there will be a fish-in for cats within the Specimen group, we are going to need some help, explaining the winch rig to those Barbel lads!!!!
Most of the cat fishermen I know fish for other species in the winter, why not ask a few of them to join the new group.
Good luck at Jones this year.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
Cats fight better and longer than carp.

Off to the mighty river Saone myself in a couple of weeks in search of those monster cats, can't wait as those big lumps should be starting to feed up soon.
Let me know how you get on when you go to the Ebro mate as i am interested in going there.
