Hello Spence,
You might not get a huge response to this, but what you do get will be good advice as there are some top anglers on there.
Always find the fish on Horton, during the summer months they are quite easy to locate, but they don't always feed where they show! So bear that in mind. Try and stick to fishing fairly close in, margins are excellent. Be quite and keep a little bit of bait going in to "other" spots (your not fishing) and keep an eye on it.
Keep your rigs simple, bait has to be the number one Carp Companies Ice Red with Caviar & Cranberry, they love this! And remember to keep your lines flat to the bottom, backlead everything right up and under your rod tips. These old warriors hate lines!
I hope this helps.

Hello mate,
Any info on the two will be helpful. I know a few of the lads now who are being really helpful.
I should be on the split for the close season so that i can keep an eye on the North and Car-Park.
The only other advice for Horton is beware of the lodge socials. In recent times they are becoming more common, every weekend! And if you "enjoy" too many of these your fishing time will be greatly reduced!
Keep an eye of the "catchers" of the lake, they spend more time looking and baiting areas than actual fishing and the top two rods the season before last caught around 130+ fish between them.
I hope you do get a ticket and that you have a good year, its a fun place and the fish are true stunners.

Nice to hear from you chaps, Amigo, reveal yourself, I think I saw Grant and Simon at the show, which one is it eh??? I haven't been out much recently, did a few days last week when it got a bit milder, it was good to get out but nothing so much as farted, couldn't believe it, especially as it seemed to be off everywhere else. I'm still doing a bit out Chichester way but I need a new challenge for this year....I'm even thinking about Wraysbury but dunno if I've got the time or guts for it. How long have you been waiting on Horton now? I'll take the R.P stuff offline and mail you!!
Happy Carping,
Pete

Pete,
Hi its spence, amigo 1 as he likes to be known is none other than granty!!! We have been on the horton list for prob 2 1/2 years ish i think, read Dave Lane, you will be enspired to fish either Horton or Wrasbury, its awesome!!!! Im just dreading the depths, about 15ft Average so i hear. That will be a change, does anyone know what the weed was like or is like on horton the past year. Also whats the water like, clear i would imagine. Sorry all these questions. Just trying to get a feel for the place, anyway sorry pete, went off on a bit of a tangent there! Did you see that hunts corner fish in carptalk the last couple of weeks, did that look like a baby BAZIL or what!!!! What about that 45 this week, was that from around our area somewhere. Anyway catch you later,

Spence

Spence, I can't get through on your email, is that the right address? Mail me at mitchep@uk.ibm.com
and tell me about RP, as I said on the site, I'm after something new this year, I'm spending so much
time for so few fish it's getting silly, I might as well be spending that time somewhere with some really special fish, i.e Wraysbury,Yateley etc. 'V' has got some lovely fish in but nothing over 40 so I think I
could be spending my time more wisely. I was in Yateley Angling Centre yesterday, seeing all the piccys on the wall, being so close to all those stunning fish, it just got me going you know? And yes I have read Dave Lanes book...about fifty times! It does get you motivated though. I'm considering Wraysbury, but I've only got weekends, it seems everyone is doing the boat thing over there, but it wouldn't be practicle for me. I'm not sure how busy it's gonna be this year either. So tell me about RP, are there still 'unknowns' in there, or is the stock pretty well known? I heard a few fish have been moved from / around other lakes close by? Do you think it's worth me joining - and can I look around if I haven't got a ticket?

Appreciate any pointers!!!!

(By the way what r u up to on the bait front now? Still on the Active 8??)

Just a quick question , but is "v" the lake in sussex ? If it is i think your info may be incorrect.

Pete

Blankster, ok it depends if you count a fish with plenty of spawn which may or may not be in there.......

As i said in the e-mail i am being told it is still in there , i will have a look tommorow to see if i can find her. Mr Jenkins and Mr lane were supposely on it for a session the other week so i doubt they were after one of the other fish .

When you see them kippers jumpin' that'll be my bait, see you down there. They seem to be hanging around the snag bank at the moment.

Pete,
Wrasbury on weekends without a boat! Your certainly after a challenge then!!!!! Now then RP, ummm i think alot of our corro will have to be offline, dont want to upset anyone. No mystery's, just quite a few 30's up to about 40. None moved, rules & Bailiff a nightmare. Could tell you a few secrets that would make you toes curl!!! Put your name on the horton list boy, or nutsey, Hairfield ( we thought about that one first ) the list goes on.... Bait another UMMM.. Whatever it takes to get them to pick it up! Gotta few tricks up the sleeve. If i dont get back to ya for a while, im coming over to 'britain' tommorow for a scout around a few places and will be back on the island by monday with tales of huge 'uncaught' commons,

Catch ya later

If you look on the carptalk-online website, under fisheries theres some info under the Elstow No.2 heading, it seems pukka stuff. Hope this helps.
