The beast was 32-08 - caught within 10mins of the start. Phil Selby had Little Gertie and the Unknown. Not sure about sizes of most other fish, but a 28-4 common was being photographed when the lad who drew the point walked round. The reason for not fishing was being put on call-out all weekend and only being told Friday pm! He was gutted.
PS I chipped in with a fish of 19-12 from the Dead Tree.

03-06-2002, 16:06
Simon i had a walk round yesterday lunchtime and there were quite a few swims available whether it was because of the England game on live or not i dont know, hoping to get out for a wander this evening as well.

Or she mightened have gone hell for leather at spawing. Some fish(in England) last year had some really low weights cause of a good spawning session.

Ian,
I dont mean to be wierd when i ask how long should a carp spawn for?And what would be a good spawning session?

Mines a good good minute and a half if im not tired!LOL

Fished yesterday, managed to open my account with the mismatch common at 22lb exactly, also a 21lb to terry hilton from the pads, left at about 7:30 just as clive had a fish in the net a 20lb+ thats all i know and of course poser had the fully scalled - awesome.

p.s. Crayfish, you must have been that ugly bloke that walked around and had to step over me rods in the corner swim...-LOL

03-06-2002, 21:22

Well the brown fish has been out, it was the 1st fish out of the season.. it was the brown fish that was caught with in 10mins of the start at 32.08 not the beast.. the beast and cluster came out today at 27lb odd each! also the big common at 29lb something? they think terry hilton lost blind eye! in the pads, and heart-tail was 37.12 it seems a lot of the fish are down, but thats how it is! i was going to sutton 2moro for my 1st trip of the season, but i think -------- 'it's back down the tol' decision decision?

LOUGHNANE
04-06-2002, 19:32
God those weights are very low, especially the big common!
*scott*

I knew Blind eye would be around!

Crayfisher
04-06-2002, 20:55
I witnessed the capture of The searcher at 7.30pm to a guy called craig, the fish was in great nick and weighed 33lb 12oz

Steve_White
04-06-2002, 21:10
These fish seem to confuse everyone - even the old hands who witnessed the captures seemed unsure of which fish were which!
One thing is certain though, and that is a good proportion of the fish have already had a good old spawn up and some are just gagging for it. The fish I had opening day left milt all over my mat!
Think it may be Crayfish for me at the weekend!

The seacher hasn't spawned then!

Wonder how big Heart tail Gertie would be if she hasn't spawned yet!

Nearly all the stock seem to come out after they spawn and then are rock hard to catch for the rest of the year!
*scott*

Sim0n

saw the Searcher on the bank too. Very nice. Well done that man.

RAFLEE
06-06-2002, 08:24
Think the big common may have been out at 35+

phil_manuel
09-06-2002, 14:24
The big common has been out at 35+, so the common at 29 odd the other day was not the big common?.. ian you should do a booklet on the fish at sutton for anyone thats fished there longer then 5 years! also heart-tail has been out again at 38, little gerty has not been out yet.

RAFLEE
10-06-2002, 08:24
Also the fully Scalled has been out again as well....

Had a look around yesterday evening, very very quite, no fish out and not alot moving around. me thinks they may need to get some good weather and get rid of some spawn and start munching.

...pug nose common out today...32lb on floaters.

...meanwhile, I'm going for the biggest bag of bream....just the seven today!

Big_Rik
19-06-2002, 14:11
Are the bream of any size?

Sim0n
19-06-2002, 21:53
...didn't weigh them...probably in the 5 to 6lb range easy......had another 6 this morning! There were a few huge shoals of the them up on top in the sun today....would probably be quite pleasing on the right tackle.
I wonder what tomorrow will bring???

Steve_White
20-06-2002, 08:27
You must be lucky then - I'd have put most of the pesky blighters that I catch at less than 1lb!! Mind you, the 4 I had yesterday from the High Point were chunks - still doesn't make up for the fact that they ruined a big carp-catching opportunity!!
As far as Iam aware, the only fish out yesterday was to snackers - 20lb common off the top.

Sim0n
20-06-2002, 22:41
...give you three guesses what I caught today!!! It really must be bad down there, I had to pull my floater away from a mixer loving bream today.
Nothing out today as of when I left at 9pm ish.
Next bream session...tuesday.

Sim0n
21-06-2002, 10:56

Steve_White
23-06-2002, 22:53
I've heard that Mr Selby had Searcher from the Unknown at 32+ Saturday (leave some for the rest of us mate!!). You should have been down Friday morning - had the place to myself until Midday!! Mind you, only managed yet more bream and a so**ing great eel.

Gro
24-06-2002, 11:13
how big was the eel mate ?

Steve_White
24-06-2002, 21:40
Didn't weigh it! But it was no boot-lace, bigger than anything I've caught before - eel-wise that is!!

Sim0n
24-06-2002, 22:34
....when u down next Steve?

Gro
24-06-2002, 22:47
