Chigborough is in Heybridge, essex. This is just outside of Maldon. Nearest main town would be Chelmsford. A414 best road into Maldon off the A12.

Very few Carp as this is more a general fishery, Big Bream and Tench and Crucians.

Two lakes with the little lake being a classic Tench water. Absolutely beautiful in the Summer. Lily pads the lot.

How heavily does lake 1 get fished? Is it busy during the week or is a choice of swims generally available for roving?

Cheers

Generally during the week it hardly gets fished therefore suits roving perfectly.

Weekends can be busy but with about 20 swims may only see 6 people.

This fishery is a little gem and mainly fished by locals on day tickets.

50lb+ bags of bream not uncommon.

Tench to 5lb fairly regular.

So stick it on your list to fish when we reopen.

Brian, I've fished Chigborough for the last few seasons, and as you say its a great fishery. I mainly fish the small pit for the tench and crucians, but I see you mention the bream, any tips on getting in amongst them?

I'm afraid not. Like youself I generally fish the little lake.

We get a group of lads down from Ipswich who mainly fish for the Bream so the next time they are down I will have a chat.

They fish the same place all the time which is along the bit with the Beach and the next couple of swims up. Unfortunately this meanes that you always have the wind in your face, which can be chilly.

They use swim feeder and the mix contains Molasses, brown crumb and one of those ver der things!!. But I will find out.

I know one of the lads uses one of those sidewinder indicators which he swears by an another uses the Method.

But as soon as I see them next I will let you know.

Cheers

Sounds like what I heard from a bloke down there last season. He reckons you fish the beach swim from mid-afternoon onwards, plenty of mashed bread and breadcrumb thrown in 3/4 rod-lengths out, then wait for it to get dark. If you're lucky you pick up the odd fish during the afternoon and then bag up at night... sounds easy!! Have to give it a try sometime...
