Steve, hope to see you down there soon.
As for info, just ask anyone down there, we are all very helpful.
Just hope you have a good sense of humour, as you can probably tell from the other threads, we tend to take the yellow stuff out of each other quite a bit.
We are all easy to recognise........
Smarts is the one with the face like a bulldog licking p**s off a nettle.
AndyW21UK is a cross between Billy Idol and just plain Idle.
Northern James is the one who is northern.......and called James.
Jack is the one who catches fish. (git)
Boo looks like a Rivercarper that has shrunk in the wash.
Toothless Tom is fairly explanatory.
Starie is just Starie.
And I'm the unbelievably handsome one with the ginger goatee.
Best of luck,
Mike.
Whats the stranger?
Keeping it jurrasic
Charlie
LOL, 'The Stranger'!
I like that one!
The Boat Pool rumour mill suggests that the strangers may be leaving us.Ian Please don't let it happen it's top of my list at the moment and the rich diversity of specimen fish in this lake are the biggest attraction for me . I love my cats (not like Lewis loves his bait boat) but lifes to short to just fish for one species!
Jack.
I think the 'Stranger' should be kept strange too. LOL
Yeeahhaa, I might have to fo back for him! He appered after I left!

the stranger was indeed hooked on maggot off the point on thursday night i believe.
and banked by yours trully this morning.
24.04 let the p!ss taking begin
and another little feather to my cap, on a 5 inch live roach as well,
lots of cats on the move lost 2 myself, northern lost one in snags, and plenty of hooks straightened but not telling you where they were feeding, jack,,,,,,,shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh coz you know where we were.
just a passing note to any new guys, as mike has said in another post we all have a blast are friendly and every so often catch a few so pop round for a brew. and make sure ya hooks are strong,
we all know that Mr Coleman knows what he is doing and even he got done twice.

As far as I know there are three different " stangers" the big one 27/28lbs, the middle fish 20/23lb could be 24 and the smaller fish now an upper double.
And they all look about the same to me, old and odd.

only seem to be 2 around at the minute,
they get caught so often even a month is worrying if they dont get caught.
not sure which one is missing though.
i assume i had the middle one as they dont loose weight, they just eat and eat and eat, mine was recognised as snubnose if that means anything to anyone.

Andy,
This time last year it weighed 20lbs 6ozs, but was about the 21/22 mark for much of the year.
Did it get up on it's tail?

it's an animal isn't it when it comes to eating. would suprise me at all if it were out again tonight to smarts.
think it's the same fish matey had hooked for a while on the point on livelie catching gear as he did say it wiped out all his rods and snubbie did have a fresh (very fresh) cut on its right pec looking down on it's back.
didn't get on top no, but not suprised really, was towing a 4.5oz lead around behind it as i had it on 5inch live roach, fought well though, lovely fish in a strange kinda way.
andy
Bob, is the 20lb 6oz the one i saw you catch around June last year?
Very strange creatures....

as it looks as though the season is gonna be pretty hard is it possible to upgrade to 4 rods from 3 ?????
cheers
andy
Andy,
Its probably getting harder due to the amount of lines in the pool. Why don't you keep your 3 rod ticket, but only fish 2 rods in your swim. Might give you an edge with less lines in the water. More rods = more lines = more wary feeding fish in my eyes.
Cash
Do you you think that will help?
andy_w21uk
20-05-2002, 15:39
you are right in a sense cash they certainly do shut up shop when they get pressure but using less rods isn't the only way of hiding lines,,,,, had 2 back leads on each rod over the weekend with the closest literally under the tip.
had 3 runs which as any ones knows aint bad for the boat pool in 2 days.
was more thinking of having a rod out to cover every eventuallity, live, dead, boilie, paste etc etc.
and the mk lot certainly added a little extra pressure.
and there are a few swims were 4 rods can quite easily be fished all a long way apart and tucked away in the margins etc,
andy
A belated well done Andy I'd love to see the piccies when you get them done.
Well done to the Doc who had his first fish from the Pool this morning a 15lb grassie and he's still got tonight to go!
It's a shame the tackle sh*te's were out again on Saturday night about time we had a stake out.
andy_w21uk
20-05-2002, 16:12
Garth, will what help ???
and cheers Jack, not sure how well pikkis will look as was early and got me outta me bed,
so wasn't looking my normal stunning self, lol, who am i trying to kid,
dont worry mate, you;'ll have it, and in a few weeks after having it 4 times you'll then be cursing it,
congrats on the grassie, were a few on the move in swan bay over the weekend.
anyone up this weekend, fear it will be busy with the church draw going on.
andy
Wahey!....I'm pleased for DOC.....his first grassie?
I'm still waiting for my first 'proper' fish out of there....Ho..Hum!

all those boilies ya use smarts, there no good
whack on a live 5 incher and your catch .
lol
even the stupid fish
and
Basically what Cash said. Will 4 lines really help the situation? I think not. The boat pool is small, and the more lines out, the harder it becomes, without a doubt.
Imagine if 6 anglers turned up on the weekend (Not a massive amount just average I would reckon) and they all put 4 rods out. 2 4 6??? er thats 24 rods rods by reckoning covering about 3 or 4 acres. It is certainly not going to help I think.
andy_w21uk
20-05-2002, 17:38
when you fished church when every man and his dog were on there, ie draw day, did you just use one rod to reduce the pressure on the fish,,,,,, nope doubt it,
it will help in certain situations and others it wont so in those where there are a lot of people i will keep to 3, and in those where i am almost on my own in a swim that covers a large ammount of water i will use 4, hence me asking the question so i have the option.
dont have to be a brain scientist to hide a line from a cat.

Meesa back.....
Well done to everyone who has been catching, and bad luck on the ones lost. Just returned from a pretty hectic weekend, my mates wedding in Ireland.........jeez can those paddy's put the drink away. Most of them went to bed, absolutely paraletic at about 3.30am.
And when I came down to breakfast the next day at about 9.30, they were all in the bar already.................they must have cast iron livers.
Anyway, hope to be back down in a couple of weeks, once you lot have been feeding them all up for me.
Mike (Jan Porter/Fieldmarshall Montgomerry) the polar bear hunter.....
Andy,
I doubt I ever fish a situation on the church where so many lines were in an area the size of the boat pool. Everyone was only using two rods, and did not have livebaits on. I am not having a go, I am just asking the question.
I also fished the boat pool, and only used two rods, which I am sure helped.

ok mate no worries.
i can see ya point and admittedly it will help in certain situations having less rods out
but the reason i enquired about it originally was so that if i were to have a week off work and fish mid week, there will be less people, less lines, less pressure so i would be able to afford to step up to another rod and fish 4 rods covering much more water say off the point or something.
it's a catch 22 if you'll excuse the pun, sometimes it will be advantagous and other times it will be the opposite, it would just be nice to have the option should the situation arrise where it would help.
andy
I have just returned from The Boat Pool after two nights with the whole lake to myself. I was reduced to holding conversations with the 18 inch rat that seems to live by the swim next to the lovely little canopied oak tree. No action last night. It hammered down from about 9.30 p.m. Missed run at 10.00 p.m. When the rain stopped it was dead - like a mirror on the surface without a ripple. Don't know why.
I was pleased with my first grassie on Monday morning though at 15 lb 2 oz. A lovely looking creature. Didn't fight much until it was netted, and then it went bananas...
...maybe a cat next time...

good stuff doc,
congrats.
you just fish weekdays ??
if your about on a weekend your'll have to pop round for a beer.
not looking good with the weather this weekend,,,,,,,,,
may see if i can get a carp or something as would think the rain will have cooled the water off somewhat for the cats
andy
If only I could get 100 days holiday a year then I could fish just weekdays !
I had planned Friday until Sunday until I heard it would be full, and so a change to Sunday until Tuesday taking in a day off left me with the lake to myself. The trouble was, with every swim vacant I was bound to make the wrong choice....

I have this uncanny ability to be able to do this regardless of space and number of people present, and to prove this will be performing the said feat at Frimley this weekend.
Watch and learn....!
