any lakes known in west sussex for a days fishing for carp with good chance
...any particular area?....be more specific....
Join Isfield AC. They've got some nice lakes with fish to 30lb.
Isfield has never done a 30.
Isfields most popular waters can get VERY busy in summer.
Miller.

Your'e right the mill has never done a 30 , fish to 28lb but still gets packed. Stacks of fish in the mill though and very easy. The only other decent water they have is supposely Buckhurst but i'm dubious if there's anything of any size in there - not unless anyone knows different.. If your'e looking for a day ticket water in sussex try the southern leisure centre complex more carp than you can shake a stick at. 9 - pits from 2-50 acres with fish from singles to mid forties all english and £5 a day.
where is thge southern lesuire place and the are is around haywards heath and ardingly
cheers
richard
it hasd to be carp fishing
There is a day ticket water on the Wych Cross turn off on the A22 called Tanyard Fisheries, passed Dane Hill. It is a comercial fishery but holds some nice Carp. I can't vouch that they are English though as the owner was thinking of purchasing a lake in France. There are 7 lakes I think and the specimen lake holds the largest so i have been told. It must be easy there as i had a 19 out on freelined Luncheon Meat a few years back and it was a common....

Tanyard Fisheries is ok , but a bit man made for my liking , the fish i believe are a mix of some imports and some fish out of a lake called searles which was tanyards Sydicate water some years ago. I know this for a fact as i have seen several photos of fish from there and they are fish taht i caught from searles a few years back. If you are looking for a wateer near haywards heath try balcombe lake . This is just behind Ardingly resovoir and although the fish aren't big , they average between 14-19lb and you can get up to 10 fish in a night. If you want to know any more from around this area mail me privately and i will let you know hwat i know.

Scarletts Lake might be worth a go. Although its mainly a general coarse fishery I've seen some carp guys take some decent fish to 25lb out, plus there are some really nice tench in there.
Isn't Wintons in Sussex?

Any decent fresh bait and your in with a chance, mainline, Carp Company (Icelandic Red), premierbaits pepper and peach have done me and my brother well....
Stick to Kingfisher and heron if you want the carp as mallard has a higher percentage of cats then carp although all 3 lakes hold fish to over 30 and Kingfisher being harder but lovely fish too 48lb...
Not cheap though, if you bought membership in january you got free 24 hours... Have booked a week at beginning of June down there...
Anymore info on the place drop me a pm ..

Whitevane is a joke and overpriced IMO, too many chiefs and not enough indians there....
Borde Hill - great for pleasure fishing but i think no night fishing as part of the tea gardens etc.....
Wintons - good fishing not everyones cup of tea due to pricing etc

I spoke to Robin, nice old bloke.... 100.00 for the year and i think he said 40 members there is a waiting list biggest he has seen himself is 26lb, he said if a member then if you have kids they can fish for nothing with you and adult guests are £5.00 dont seem a bad crack especially considering the surroundings etc. He did mention something about no parking possibly in the evenings but theres 24hr access etc....
Might join this for me and my son to do day sessions on ...
Anyone interested you have to contact him and he will mail you a application form etc...

What happened to Buckhurst Lake after Isfield lost it? I remeber going there a few times as a kid and catching some nice tench fishing of a sundial! Stunning looking lake that was.

Lovely place. Shetland ponies wondering free in the grounds and a lake covered in lillies. Always wondered what may lurk in there.
Was told the guy that owns the Carp Shop in Horley was trying to set up a syndiacte on it, but never heard any more about it.
Don't think paul did in the end miller...

Yes Keith.
Yes Keith.
Then it's run by the Dorset Arms Angling Club. Have a look under East Sussex Club Waters in Clive's book. Nothing large in there now, but a lovely setting.

Thanks Keith, will do.
There's no fishing club currently, on any of the four lakes, situated around the Buckhurst Park estate grounds.
Thank you.

Oh, interesting. Checking the book Dorset Arms AC have the rights to the Burrswood Estate, is that the same place?
I dont think it is. Google Buckhurst Park and in the "country pursuits" section it mentions the lakes are for private hire only.

It held the IDAC carp record for a while, about 25lb if I remember correctly.
I remember the walk being a ball breaker, never heard of a barrow then! The steps at the end would finish you off! Stunning place though.

They certainly would.
Think the first swim you came to was the concrete "sundial" swim you mentioned earlier. Such a shame that lakes like Buckhurst get lost to angling.
Talking of old IDAC lakes..... Is Broadoak Fishery the 'Eridge Lake' they used to have. Never went there but I think it held big Pike and Rudd.
They certainly would.

Thats right, and it was a nice flat surface to place my bright blue Shakespeare box on!
It is a shame indeed.

Different place, Keith. Burrswood estate is near to Groombridge

Anyone ever fished Lugashall Mill (i think that's the name). I went there once and the owner told me it held 'Basking Carps' !
Anyone know if there's fishing allowed on the lake in the grounds of Groombridge Place? I noticed this lake by the main road close to Groombridge, while looking on multimap. Cheers

I remember the first time i took a walk to the lake and seeing the huge Gunnera plants (first time i'd ever seen one). It was like walking through Jurassic park.
Big swirls amongst the lillies as you'd walk round the lake.
Happy memories.

Looks lovely doesn't it, but I think it might be National Trust. Defo no fishing

Fished it on and off over the last twenty years with a match angling mate, normally down in the hole on the left side of the road when you drive in, good mix of fish in there. The main lake is very shallow and heavily silted with the deepest part being along the road, used to be some big pike in there and lots of bream but has done a couple of commons.

They are odd those aren't they? A little day ticket lake down here in the New Forest has those, freaked me out first time I saw them! Thought I was going to stumble across Mike's fabled 70lbers judging by the size of the fauna!!!!
