On a local big pit there are huge mussels and gravel bars (and I mean huge!) so I use a whole spool of 45lb Quicksilver per rod.
When playing a fish close in the Quicksilver sounds awful as
it goes through the rings and there is quite considerable friction.

I know it's designed for mono and I know it's to aid casting, but would the use of 'Greased Lightning' help?
Will it effect my main-line (Berkley Fireline) ?

All the best,

A better option instead of Greased Lighting, would be to use 'Granite Juice' also by Kryston. Saying that as long as your rings are Fuji SIC you shouldn't have any problems.
