I saw a post on another site about this and thought it would be a good one for here too. We are always whinging about this and that being miles too much for us to buy but there must be things out there that you think are good value for money. What are the best deals you have had?

I went to a tackle shop once and i was in the market for four rods, two pairs. I ended up by walking out with the rods leaving a very confused tackle shop owner wondering what had happened. For some strange reason he had only charged me for two rods but I didnt realise till i got home honest!! lol

What decent deals have you had?

I still think that at the mo' the Giant set of carp rods offer HUGE value for money. I could have had anything but chose them.Cheap with all the qualities of a rod that costs twice as much.

I use Daiwa Powermesh rods, in 2lb and 2 3/4 lb and for what they cost, around £70.00 - £90.00 each new, I think they are fantastic value for money, they suit the way I fish are very forgiving and they've got a lovely union jack on the butt!

Keepin it real!

Sorry Andy but that's not a deal that's theft! Theft is still a punishable crime in this country. I seem to remember a week or so ago everyone was complaining bitterly about tackle robbers. What's the difference. Don't even try, to answer that.
How would you feel if at the end of the week your boss forgot to put two days pay in the envelope?

...you naughty boy Andy.....you are apparently the only one on this site that wouldn't have gone back to the shop & own up....
So Jim, have you never been given change of a twenty instead of a ten & never keept quiet??

Have to disagree there Jim,

You hand over 4 rods to be purchased, shop keeper says how much he wants and you pay him. No crime at all.

You agree to work for a set rate, you don't get paid that then there is a legal issue - entirely different situations.

Keep in French!!

Lofte,

The Giant rods were £99 each whatever testcurve you wanted.
I am sure you can pick them up for around £70-£80 now as thay have been out for at least a few months now!
Try one out in a shop...sheer class finishing. They have a 'paraboilc' action......I'm led to believe that basically this means that the more you pull into them, the more power they provide!?
I have the 2.5lb test curves and am more than happy, casting PVA bags, deadbaits etc.....though I don't fish the horizon on my waters,(case of being in the woods on the other side!).
It's just the finish that is so good.I could not find any imperfections which is good going for such a good price. They have SIC rings and a full handle which I prefer as I have found the standard carp handles can slip off the forearm when giving some stick to a beast!

And when there are no tackle shops left as you've all robbed them all, or they have given there stuff away, you can all moan that you've got nowhere to buy stuff from.

keep it realistic!

I just bought 2 chesseburgers from McDonalds for 99p, now that's a bargain!

Oh, and on the shopkeeper forgetting to charge you, do you really think that if you gave said shopkeeper an extra £20 note that he would turn round and chase after you to give it back..................

I think not!

Sorry Andy but I'm not the one in question here. You were the one who seemed to be announcing that you were seemingly proud of ripping someone off. Who's in the rip off Britain seat now mate. Don't worry about the sour grapes saga there were plenty of other sites for me to support my case on. Your loss I suppose.
Jim Rawcliffe.

Oh well, only said in jest Jim. As I privated I apologise if I upset you in some way. I didnt look at it as ripping him off as he did it to himself but I respect your opinion about it anyway.

All the best,

Andy

You see Andy there's a gentleman in ALL of us. Apology accepted without malice. Care and caution. God I feel old, I'm beggining to sound like my father but then with four kids I guess I suppose it's natural!

I must admit that I felt a bit old the other day when me and my son had our first proper row. lol Teenagers hey?

Just out of curiosity do you do a catalogue? If so could you let me know how to obtain one as I am moving later in the year and it doesnt look like I will be able to obtain the bait I have been using down there so I may be in the market for a different one?

Cheers,

Andy
