View Full Version : Zone Alarm
If any of you are using zone alarm and have a problem accessing sites of receiving email you may have to un-install zone alarm, remember to go to the Zone alarm site after u have un-installed it to remove some trace files that remain on the PC or you will pull your hair out for 3 hours like i did.
Though i would share my downfall for you all.

Tony,
Try BlackICE, great firewall, works well with proxy's such as Proxy+. I've been using it for best part of 2 years and not a single problem - oh and really easy to configure.
I am using zone alarm for my fire wall and am not having an trouble.

No probles with Zone alarm here, what you might need to do is tell it what to allow, for example there can be problems if you try to access a site from a short cut on the desktop as its EXPLORER.exe trying to open the site, not IEXPLORE.exe as it would if you entered the web address into your browser....

no trouble this end!
Okay, Zonealarm was the culprit... that was for sure. I also had a file on my pc that was blocking my ip address. The problem was a strange one. I could log on, get pages up for a minute or 2 then it would stop, same for mail and any access to/from the internet. I changed my TCIP settings, changed the drivers I also went into regetid to take all the traces of zone alarm out. Just bad luck I think. But I sorted now with a new firewall. Never again will Zonealarm be on my PC
