Anyone used these yet?.....quite like the look of them http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Are these the new Helicopter-style thingies?
If so - I had a play, thought they just seemed a bit "fiddly".

fiddly?....a girrafe could use one with its hands behind its back!

I have used them, and after losing 3 fish on the trot with hook pulls, have binned them!
I think they catch anglers not carp.

Picked one up, put it down. The middle bit's too shiny and they look like they'll tangle a bit much. Also, the hooklength could rub on the coating which is like sandpaper.

thought as much... gimmick.

Why did the lead cause teh loss of teh fish - surely it how its used - a leads a lead is a lead....

Angle of the pull? If he only experienced hook pulls after using these he'd be right to bin 'em.

or alternatively fine tune the set up to suit these leads if you can see a clear benifit in using em....

Im not saying he was wrong to bin em - just that if you see benifits in a product you may need to hone the use of that product top get the best from it...

not used the dumbell but used the other leads of Atomic and they are exelent stuff!!!!
I know some say a lead is a lead but, that is far from true!!!
these textured coated leads lend themself to being more camouflaged once sat on the bottom for a while as the sediment will attach itself to the lead
the coating is spot on, and feels so diffrent from other leads they are just another great inovation in lead making!!

they're like the old tadpole leads aren't they ?
http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
creates a strange angle of pull but apart from that ???
possibility of tangles shortening the hooklink thus causing hookpull ?
horrid leads..

well sorry to be stupid!!!!

Matt - They are similar however I believe the tadpole was a 1 piece lead, these are 2 piece.
In my view the 2nd part of the lead break away from the setup and create an angle different from that of the main part of lead causing additional pressure on the hook hold.....IMHO

the original idea behind the tadpole was flawed IMHO.
they were horrible and very dangerous.
I've not played with the atomic one so reserve judgement but must admit to cringing when I saw a few photos of one.
there is a piece of metal that the swivel rotates on and theres a smaller lead above isn't there ?
I can see what they are trying to achieve but what happens if the hooklink is wrapped around top lead or above ?
is the top lead a lot lighter than bottom one if not why should the hooklink swivel want to travel up the metal spigot and onto the mainline?
if it is only slightly different in weight could it not potentially invert ? especially if there's weed above the top lead..?
too many safety factors for me..
generally atomic does some ncie stuff but I think this one is potentially a disaster wating to happen.
sorry thats not a dig just not convinced with this particular product. I'm sure users will say otherwise.

Apology accepted, I wasn't actually saying you were stupid, just pointing out that rough coatings have been around a while. Don't be so harsh on yourself http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

ok mate!!
its just that alot of carp anglers these days use Korda leads (I did for more than a decade) but have found that they are not what they used to be, and thats why I started to use these atomic leads, because the give me an edge in my fishing (rough coating etz)
hope you understand what I try to say??
re: my assertation of "fiddly" - see Pilky's answer.
I meant fiddly in that there just too much going on (and to go wrong) with them.
