Hi Guys need some advice!

Going to frnace soon but all is ue in the uk is my 50" aqua with overwrap.

I need to get something wich is not massive but big enough for a week session in france.

Question is what would you get??

I am not worried about the name as to be honest once i am back it will stay in the shed and may come out in the winter but may not.

Things i have looked at are

JRC 1ma Extreme STI?? any views?
Aqua Dillo?? expensive though for what i need it for
Trakker stuff again expensive?
Hutchy domes??
SHakespere big easy thing??

any ideas lads?? or big no no's

Thanks

how about one of the cheaper old style trakker dillos, rather than the new hooded top jobbie. about £160 i think. Id avoid any domes, some of the French storms would shred it to bits. Get a pram hood style.

Why bother getting a bivvy and spending cash?, hopefully you will be outside enjoying the heatwave they are having and not in the bivvy.

I have never had a bivvy for France and apart from a amazing electrical storm where I jumped in the back of the Landy for 3 hours I have never had any problem. Get a piece of tarp and wrap you kit up if it rains or if you can leave it in the car.

Not very helpful I know but it's a bit of overkill IMO

i do understadn where you are coming from, but after spending loads of money to go over i at least want to be comfortable. But will keep your idea as a real back up.

As long as i can use the bivvy in the UK for the winter i see it as worth it and besides i am not takling my car.

thanks though!

Pablo - Ive got a JRC STI 1 man and can't fault it, for the money it is a superb piece of kit.

It weighs about 8kg's though when all packed up, but is easy and quick to erect etc.

Get your self a fox easy dome for france mate.

They are strong when up, twin skinned etc.

Plus the built in groundsheet means that if u zip up your mozzi mesh during the day then there is no creepy crawlies in there wat so ever.

Cant fault them for french trips.

Keep an eye out on e-bay, seen a few of the euro easy domes (newer model of the 5 rib), used twice etc going for around £160-£180. I have one and its prime, not too big, warm and fairly solid.

...as long as you dont have to fit it back in it's bag again at the end of the trip http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Not if you get the additional fox easy dome bag. They are a great way around the limited tackle allowance on trips.

I got my bivvy (which was jus a 4 rib tho), 20kg bait (sausage bags), all my clothing and sleeping bag in mine.

But i never did have a problem getting either the 4 or 5 rib bag in bags in summer, it was jus winter when the ground sheet was frozen.

I had a Euro Easy Dome for a while with the 'luxury' bag. I found a couple of half nelson's followed by a headlock and an over head smash was required to get the bivvy back into the bag.

I now use the Fishrite XS bivvy it's similar to the Dillo in design and for £199 comes with winterskin, groundsheet (which is the best I've seen for a while) and the support system, quality pegs. Been using it regularly and its the Muts Nuts.

I've got the JRC STI 2 man and it's an excellent piece of kit. Easy to put up and well made. If you fish on your own a lot, then I would recommend you go for the 1 man version. You won't be dissapointed. Excellent deals around at the moment as well.

Cheers
