Line the bottom with larger pellets or make yourself a curtain.

lining the bottom with larger pellets is a good way to go, or get some hole or chopped up boilies on the bottom is another alternative. Fine particles like partiblend and hemp are excellent to use with the cat, what about dropping pva balls of pellets either bagged or stockined in the hoppers. And have your hook bait in a bag also?????? In one of them????? Put some pellet down first to keep them all dry and ensure the bags will sink by pricking them to let the air pockets escape, or they will float when dropped out, maybe a little stone in each to aid them getting down to the lake bed quickly and staying in little clumps?????Them drop the whole lot out to your desired spot... you`l have little food clumps on your spot as the little bags melt and ones got your hook bait in. Dont go for the obvious try to rethink what you can do with a bait boat in relation to bait application and how you want it to appear on the lake bed.....ie ....if you want to make a sloppy mix up with milk powders and fishmeals and some pellet to it and other bits. Then drop that out via your boat you`l create a cloud that will get them curious and mooching about for food grubs. A white milky cloud coming off the bottom of any lake bed will stir up some cypry interest. Just use your boat discreetly and in moderation so as not to cause offence, in an ideal scenario you shouldnt need to rebait once its in position (your rig and bait). Just leave it out there and let the carp move in when they choose to....sit tight. a bait boat is not to replace your casting skills it is to aid you in some situations, use it as a tool to your armoury like spodding, catapulting out groundbait, single hookbait approaches, mixer fishing on top, zigs etc and even jumping in a boat and dropping your rigs over the side all have relevance at one time or another. Best wishes Scott Edwards.

I put a smear of vaseline (!!!) along the edge of the hopper then squeezed a neat bead of clear mastic onto the centre piece.

Just as it was 'skinning' I gave it the wet finger treatment pushing the mastic onto the vaselined edge.

After it had gone off, I carefully opened the hopper and wiped off the vas.

I had the same problem. Sent my cat back, as I felt this was a design flaw. Got the cat back with the doors adjusted so that the "gap" was at the top of the hoppers rather than the bottom. Cost me nothing.

Cheers

A small piece of thin pvc glued to the side that sits loosely in the bottom of the hopper. When the hopper door opens it falls out the bottom with the bait.

Spod for 1.5 hours solid or two trips with a bait boat to dump out 10kg wet particle (5 mins)?

If it don't effect anyone the bait boat is more efficient. I use mine on a big pit. 10kg wet particle are placed on a feature 3 times per week in less than 5 mins per trip. I do it in my lunch hour.

Then I come back and cast to the feature when angling.
