A change of waters this year means that I want some rods that will give me a bit more range than my current Daiwa Whisker 2.5tc give me. I feel a bit underguunned at the mo.

I want some rods that wont break the bank - probably second hand - that will give me the additional range that I want but retain the feel at the rod tip that I am used to. I will have to sell my Whiskers to fund these...

Basically I want something that will perform in all situations as I am likely to be fishing from 1 yard out to 120, I'm already using big pit reels...

Been thinking about some Prodigies in 3lb tc. Any opinions or feasible alternatives?

Have a look at Wychwood Rage 3lb - you will be pleasantly surprised at the look/quality/feel for under £36 per rod and are more than capable of doing all you're wanting and more.

I've got the 2.5 test Prodigys and think they are great. Really nice action, very well made and look good. Great value for money.

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah - £150 for a set of 3 is what I am targetting, cant really afford any more.

Not sure about the really budget end of the market with the Wychwood Rage - longevity?

3 1/2's might be a bit too heavy, although agree that are fantastic rods.

Also unfortunately out of my pocket...

Just done a Google, found that J & K are doing 2.75 LD whiskers for £50 each. Obviously the LD means long distance but anybody know how these rods would generally perform? Assume that they would be as per standard 2.75tc Whiskers with different eye spacings and sizes?

If so these could be perfect as I already love my current Whiskers just want a bit more range.

ive got some daiwa longbow 3 lb t/c for sale used about 3 times didnt get on with the lack of duplon on the butt... i aint selling em on the tackle exchange but if you wanna make an offer pm me. my advise is the prodigy's are good i have a set but they do mellow in stiffness after a while which means you cant get full throttle cast outa them after a while. but the lifetime garentee sorts that out if you know what i mean!! http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif the longbows are a great long distance/ general use rod. i have used my 3lb t/c s for surface fishing and prefer there action to my 2 1/4 pound rods i used to use for quicker pick up.. hit and hold rods they r the bizz...
