Many tackle shops are online

Personally I have had very good prices and service from Poingdestres although had a lot of online probs with Tacklebox, however others say they are good I believe

Blimey, can't believe I forgot to mention Brentwood Angling! Great prices, ultra helpful and really fast

When I can't get it locally I order from Gazza Products who are top rate, and highly recommended.

I also got a Bag and Cover recently from Climax who were professional, communicative and efficient.

Endtackle are very good, free postage (even to Ireland)
Better than one store(named in above posts!) who tried to charge me £30 postage on a T shirt, and only told me this 2 months after I ordered it!
Tackle box, very good, Climax and Specialist Tackle also excellent service.

I have just had an email from a mate regarding the very poor customer service from Gazza Products [he has no access to a pc].
He placed an order 6weeks ago with a surity the product would arrive in a week.
Despite a chaser after 10 days..no reply, the money had been taken so another email and another non -returned call.
He eventually spoke to the owner, no apology just anither surity of a delivery as the product was out of stock, but a promise of a phone call if supply problems.
Another week and another chaser but a refund on the way until product delivery, another promised call, nothing after 6 weeks of waiting,5 chasers, 2emails..still no update so he cancelled his order. My mate is a twice repeat customer but NEVER again. Poor show !

England Angling - Excellent never had problems (i mainly use Tim but he does not do ESP)
Gazza - He's a cool guy, very helpful and quick service
Tackle Box - Ok but delivery could be quicker
Leslies - Ordered 3 Tournies and they sent them to my previous address and my ex-wife refused delivery so had a lot of hassle sorting it out with Initial City Link - But in fairness they sent 4 korda PVA refills to compensate so was quite pleased.

These companies cant be perfect all the time but i would reccomend all the above.

England Angling.co.uk: Just got a new bedchair from them - ordered it on a Monday delivered on Wednesday, superb no problems.

Leslies of Luton, Had new Rods & Reels from them last year again, I had no problems.

Speaking from personal experience though I would not ever use Bennetts again.

England angling. - I use them regularly without any problems. Top Service.

Gazza Products - I have used them in the past without problems. However I had a small item turn up damaged, so I phoned them. Nothing happened. So I emailed them. Nothing Happened. So I emailed them again, I got a reply saying a replacement would be sent out. It never turned up. It was only a £3 item so i let it drop, but it was enough for me not to risk spending money with them again.

Tackle Box - used a few times over the years without any problems. However I dont like the way that you cant see images of the products as you are ordering, everything is in a list form and its easy to order the wrong item.

England Angling - top service, would always go to them first

Leslies - efficient service, but a little overpriced on the delivery charges imo

Gazza - pile of cack. Order arrived late and half was missing claiming it was 'out of stock' with no effort to contact me. Would not use them again, although I ordered from their website and people who have spoken directly to the guy seem to rate that side

Tacklebox - good service, kept me updated when item I ordered was out of stock, but their website is a bit pants imo echoing what Wayne says above

Used England Angling for the first time yesterday - all seamed a very smooth set up, proof of the pudding will be when it turns up tomorrow.

Bennets Of Sheffield - Useless - completly the wrong stuff was sent. I phoned them and they said - I know we were waiting for you to ring us.

Tackle Box - Good service.

I tried looking for a rod (at random) to see the range, and found virtually nothing.

This category is supposed to be rods and rests (why?):

http://www.englandangling.co.uk/displayCategory.asp?catID=31

With hardly any products in it really, also, there is no facility to reorder the items in price order or "in stock" order etc, etc..

Also, the above category features a couple of pods, yet this category here:

http://www.englandangling.co.uk/displayCategory.asp?catID=37

is apparantly carbon sticks and pods with only four products in total..

I'm also frankly slightly amazed that there are, at first glance, apparantly more varieties of backleads for sale:

http://www.englandangling.co.uk/displayCategory.asp?catID=8

than there are pods..

This reduces my confidence in the site to nil - prior to seeign the feedback..

I see no excuse for not keeping a shopping cart website bang up to date.

Goood service: Gazza Products , Tackle Box, Leslies(won't go in shop though miserable bleeders) Fosters.
Poor Brentwood tried to charge me £7 for an envelope size delivery ,YAC couldn't care less attitude to a potential 3 rod purchase.
Bennets of Sheffield who will send everything 1st class overnight whether you want it or not and told me to contact a manufacturer when they sent a reel minus spare spool.

Endtackle is my no1 online store excellent service and have never had a problem with them in 18 months. http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Gazza Products- i will never use them again. I ordered a Carpporter Mark4 "s" and i received a Mark 4 with no springs. I had a row with one of the lads there who said i definatley asked for 1 with out springs which i didnt. They refused to collect it would of cost me about £40 to send it back. Spoke to gary who fed me a load of [censored] and 4 weeks later i am still stuck with it after he promised to phone me back and did not. http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/mad.gif

England Angling- Ordered Carp Addict and it took 2 weeks to get it and when it turned up i had to collect it from the post office as there was a postage fee of £1.36 to pay (supposed to be free postage). http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Leslies of Luton- Pukka service cant fault it. http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Tackle Box - very slow delivery service.

mark100, did you ring tim at England angling for a credit?? If you have then fair enough, but you will find 99% of people on her have had excellent service from Tim and he always sorts out little problems. As i said previous, its very easy to highlight the negatives but these companies deal with 1000's of orders a week and the general opinion is that most of these online retailers are spot on most of the time. How many people come on here and post goods things about....just a handful i think.

professorpool
13-07-2005, 14:22
Can't falut you there, however, surely the whole point of an online retailer is that you don't speak to the people?

I run an online store, not a fishing site, but the principal is the same. Take an item that costs £50 trade, retails at £100 you sell it online at £75. You can do that because you don't have the time, effort and labour of speaking to or dealing with the client.

All you get is the order, the credit/debit card details and the address. You get it off the shelf and the postman/courier picks all the parcels up at around 4pm daily.

Jobs-a-goodun.

If the site is set up in a way that cannot handle that then I say it is not an online retailer at all but a mail order house with an online shop window.

Nothing wrong with that I suppose, but it would be nice if some of these were easier to search!

leslies - first class service

a rod arived a day late and the courier charge was refunded without me even asking http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

rang tackle box for an emergency replacement tip ring - it was in stock but they quoted 4/5 days delivery http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/mad.gif

rang hopkins and holloway (official fuji importers) and got ring the next day - far cheaper than tackle box as well http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I agree....Bennetts themselves are fine but the courier they use is rubbish.............I've had awful trouble with them.

and if you live in the east midlands and make an insurance claim quite a few companies point you towards bennets http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Not only East Midlands mate, I lived in Essex and Direct Line sent me a credit note for Bennetts when all my gear was pinched out of the garage. A very generous credit note I might add, although they don't stock a lot of the things I wanted, such as Harrisons, Nevilles, Aqua

If you type the word "pod" in the search box on England Angling website then it will come up with a list of pods

However if you type the word "numpty" then it won't come up with anything.

Have been stuck at home recently so have done alot of ordering online.

England Angling - everything turns up in a few days. Not the biggests selection.

Specalist Tackle - Fast service and good stock. Do get the feeling some pop-ups i ordered from them were a little old though.

Tackle Box - Good stock and again good service with things turning up quickly.

Leslies - Ordered a tournement 5000 and it turned up next day.

Ok my order wasnt online but i have always found YAC to be friendly and helpful.
