See if you can sort this problem for me fellas.
Due to the obvious advantages in terms of visibilty (or the lack of it), i have taken to using fluoro leaders. 2 problems, firstly the length of the leaders, wasn't sure whether i'd be safe using fairly long leaders or not. and...my preferred presentation is a rotary style presentation (helicopter). now, this was fine with leadcore because the top rubber bead held nicely in place. No such luck using fluoro leaders. Any ideas? and i dont want to have to resort to using lead clips, for me that is a no no.

Use a short section of shrink tube on top of the fluoro leader...holds the bead better.

use a thicker piece of tubing to hold the bead in place??? or try the tfg clear leaders??? hope this helps!!! http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Tried it mate, and even with lead core had to kink it to hold the bead firmly (but ofcourse allow enough movement for safety reasons http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

try a short piece of shrink tubing first about 1cm, then a longer piece over it

and fox do a reasonable helicopter kit, which would work too...

Problem is however, if you want to set the bead or stop higher up the leader to allow lead to sink into silt/chod, and leave your hooklength still presentable.... which you cant do with either..... to my knowledge....

I've not tried this........but i recall seeing a rig that Cash uses (pretty sure it was him) where by he was pushing a baiting needle through a rubber bead and then threading the bead onto the flouro leader. Hold the bead so the needle goes through at 90 degrees to the pre made hole.

Obviously that would work, but you would need to experiment to ensure the bead can still go over the leader knot.

there is one way but if your casting witha bag my way wont hold what you do it get a peice of silcon tye it in a granny knot on the leader then slide a bead on one (korda 4mm) and then below this you just have you normal rotary setup ie hook link, bead, heli bead, quicklink, lead with no swivel.
hope this helps

Position large korda sinker on the fluro leader, push esp rubber bead onto sinker. Wet the core of the bead before casting out.

Get a float stop (one of those drennan ones will do), and thread it on the leader, the rudder bead can then sit on top of thisand you can still move it around the leader to vary the amount of travel your rig has.

yeh float stop os the best idea, of one of those drennan gripper ones which have a tear drop shape. that would be ideal.

Non of which will go over the leader knot on the event of a breakage above the leader.

get a korda shockleader sleeve (the rubber ones), wedge it over a kwik link clip attached to your lead nice and tight. Then slide your hookink on using ring swivel then back stop it with a 5 mm slice of the fat end of a tail rubber. The tail rubber and ring swivel should pass freely over any leader knot in the event of breakage and both pull free of the korda shockleader sleeve on the take. If your water is weedy drop the leader.

Spool your reels up with flouro and fish straight through.

why not use a bit of putty moulded up the line. that will stop the bead on the cast but will pull off in snags etc?
