View Full Version : Making Paste Baits
Can anyone recommend a proven method for making a paste bait for winter months ? I have a few liquid flavours that I want to try out for barbel in flood/cold conditions this year and don't know where to start... What should I use as a base/amounts/etc...
Cheers,
Bill.
Try the John Baker base mixes. They are simple to knock up with eggs and any flavours you have got.Or try the JB Barbel Search 4 flavour.Nutrabaits base mixes have a good rep down here.Ask IAN!All mixing details are on the bag with reccomended flavour levels.JB has a new mix-Flood/Frost.Sounds right up your street mate!Cheers,Chris.

I used to make up a paste out of sausage meat, weetabix and a little flour. To this I added marmite, i couldnt believe how many bites I had the first few times I tried it. If you make it reasonable firm it stays on for ages but it is light enough to sit on top of leaves, silt etc.
it depends on what you are comfortable using. i use about 6ml flavour per 10 egg mix.
i'm a firm believer in letting the base mix do its job...!
