It now seems very obvious that carp fishing is going through a massive boom at the moment, and has been for some time. You`ve only got to look at the amount of post and replies on carp fishing compared to general fishing about 5 times more!.
In a way the explosion is a good thing more products, better managment of the lakes (Except some). And more organisations. But i personally would like the interest to drop in the future this would mean quieter banks(yes please) shorter waiting lists, and hopefully less forgein fish, because many are supplying the demand (But the wrong way.) So there would be less demand, and hopefully many of the money grabing B******ds, out there that are ruining the heratige, and undermining the british fish, will go out of buisness.

What are your thoughts?
Keep it real.
Dave.

just one look at the price of tackle these days is a good indicator of a bottom falling out of the market. part of the reason is that the market is flooded with cheap foriegn stuff, (cheap labour, parts etc, *not* talking fish here, leave that to toher forums;-) you can now get good buzzers for under 20 quid and a nice comfy bedchair for less that 90 notes.

angling does seem to have 2 ends to the spectrum. the ultra match scene and the ultra carp scene. it seems to me, that the carp sccene attracts most of the 'geezer' types that angling has. perhaps its the machismo from catching big fish, who knows.

another sad point i have noticed, is the amount of "complete carp tackle for sale" in classified ads. an indication to me of the 'take, make and throwaway' society we live in affecting angling.

sure angling, and carp angling poularity is on the increase. these forums mean the everyday angler can now converse with the primadonnas, before being restricted to reading about what they caught and how they went about it etc.

being 25 years old, and fishing for 20 of those years, *i* have noticed an increase in anglings popularity. never having been a follower, (more a trendsetter;-) i get slightly annoyed at the *instant* anglers that abound. i mean, we all have to start somewhere, but when i started, it was only to catch my dads livebaits on the pole! (earn my keep see!).

the sport hasnt reached the stage where people make a *serious* living from being professional anglers. lets hope some of the "keep it real" mentality can get into keeping the sport real, and not letting fame and new found fortune go to everyones heads.

the futures bright for angling, the futures orange, and smells of tutti fruitti!

tight lines!
