Fished this afternoon. Reasonable clarity and level although locals told me that it had been a lot higher in previous few days. Water temp just 43 F.

Had one bite on trotted maggot and got smashed by something large and angry. Nothing on static baits.

Elderly bailiff told me he hadn't seen another angler for 3 weeks.

Went back again yesterday. Level and flow similar to before but a curious difference in water temps. Fished near the railway at the top and the water was 45.7 and yet fishing the weir pool just before dark it read 47 C.

Sadly all the fish were away on holiday. All I managed were two nipped maggots http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I also had a look at the last swim at the bottom end of the stretch. I last fished there about 6 years ago and I remember a lovely bit of river with over hanging trees and bushes. Now thanks to the new houses everything has been stripped bare and all there is are a couple of tree stumps. Very sad.
