Has anyone used these Depthcharge weights? I have used them for a couple of years and although I find them easy to attach I am a bit worried about how they seem to tangle presumably on the retrieve. I like the idea of them with their rubber core helping to stop the hook link from being knicked as with split shot. I know you can insert rubber tubeing inside a split shot to stop this but I liked the simplicity of these mouse dropping shaped weights. I just dont think they are very airodynamic on the cast or the retrieve.

As a matter of interest the rubber inserts which are used do run out as you keep the weights after each time but the inserts once trimmed are unusable twice but I have found that a purple pole elastic fits these perfectly. I know they are not black or chrome lol but we cant have everything can we?

Anyway has anyone else used these and what are your opinions on these or any other weight for pop ups?

They're just a gimmick!
I use split shot on braid and a powergum stop knot with heavy metal on a mono hooklink as shot can damage this.

I used them twice and also found that they kept causing tangles , so i gave them to my friend dusty bin with the sod rocky pod and the continental strong as a coat hanger hooks. I now use rubber float stops with heavy metal moulded round them , hey presto no more tangles.

I have never had any tangles with these weights and non of my mates have had any problems I use them becuse when casting 100 yards the putty kept coming off but I will keep an eye on my rigs and see if I get any of these tangles. If you find it a real problem why not try stiff rigs.

I just use some old lead wire from my leadcore. all you have to do is wrap it 4-5 times round your hooklength and then mould some putty round this. you also don't need to use that much putty because of the lead, leading to a less clumpy rig. the putty never moves, not even after hard long casts so it's well worth a try.
