Ian
Is it possible to have a list of post codes for RMC Fisheries.
It could be placed on the RMC Angling Venues or as a list elsewhere.
This would be extremely helpful when using computerised route planners i.e. Multimap or The AA. As specific directions would be achieved.
Many thanks

Can you use the grid reference on those planners Brian? If so maybe it would be possible to get the grid references as I am sure some of the locations don't have a post code.

Very good idea Brian, they could also be used to obtain arial photographs of venues from sites like multimap.

Scorpio
It all depends on what computer route planner you use.
If you use 'TheAA.com' its postcodes only.
Steetmap.co.uk uses various references.
And I think multimap.com uses post codes
They all share one common reference and that is 'postcodes'

Sorry Neil
They are in a postcode region and could be tied down.
i.e. Chigborough is in CM9 and if I want to be more accurate I could put CM9 4TS which would get me within 1/4 mile of the lake. (can't beat local knowledge).
Therefore I conclude you can use postcodes and if there is a building/farm/business you can be even more specific.
Once again the idea is to get better directions to a fishery then is currently provided in the manual.
I know I tried to find St Patricks stream what a nightmare from the map in the handbook.
And yes there were properties nearby.
However as Scorpio quite righly mentioned, for those fisheries that are in the back of beyond other forms of reference could be used.

If we do get the post code we could stick a stamp on your head and stuff you in a jiffy bag.You would get there then.

Neil, you should know that delicate items or items above a certain value should not be committed to the post! There again............. (Sorry..........) Couldn't help myself.
Just tie some rope around the bottom of that red hat.... why waste mone on a jiffy bag...... LOL...... I suppose Brian if you know of any pubs, shops, businesses near lakes do a search on the BT directory enquiries on line and it will furnish you with the full postal address.... hence the post code.....

Hi Brian, this relates to a post I put up ages ago asking for more detailed directions to venues. For any of us who have a group ticket or coverall and travel to different fisheries it would be of great use to have fairly detailed instructions for each venue.
This has been brought home recently with our trips out with the Specimen Group, I tried to do my bit on the last one by putting up detailed directions to Fishers Green (hope someone found it useful!).
If a general guide was posted for most of the venues couldn't the local lads who live near each fishery add to them with info on short-cuts, parking etc?

Hi Clive
Spot on, but there seems to be resistance.
Whilst its okay for us computer guys what about the others.
The maps in the handbook are poor.
Brian
Maybe, A six figure map referance, and the Ordnance Survey Sheet number could be put in the hand book. That would certianly help a bit.
Oh well. Just a thought.
A little off the subject but does anyone know if you can change the format of getmapping.com so you can type in addresses rather than postcodes?
thanks
sam
Yo Brian,
When I first joined Leisure Sport Angling(!) the guide books used to have a brief description on how to get to the venues, but even that has dissappeared over the last few seasons.
Also, as you mention, the maps are fairly basic to say the least, they don't seem to have been modified or updated in years.
Sorry if it sounds like I'm having a go (Ian), but we have some great waters... just like to be able to find them!!

Just looked at getmapping.com which is for aerial maps only not travel directions.
But to answer your question No.
If you don't know the postcode of the address you want go to www. post office.co.uk put in the address, it will then supply you with the postcode.
