While out in Belgium recently, I visited a tackle shop called Janssen Sport which is a great shop, got everything for carp/coarse/sea & fly fishermen alike. But it confuses me as to why the bait is so cheap out there for English products....I saw Hutchy and Nash readymades (5Kg & 4Kg bags) for £14, whilst they are at least double that over here....Can anyone out there explain why??? The company also provide a mail order service, which would enable you to get them back into this country still for less than we get charged here?

P.S. I have their number if anyone is interested.

I saw the same thing in City Europe last year.3 kilo bags of Richworth for £9.99 the price of a kilo over here.Mind you Tony Blair doesn't go fishing so theres no chance of him sorting out under his rip of britian campiagn.
Not whilst he's the biggest rip of off the lot.

The reason is that Carp fishing is fasionable here and not so much in other European countries, basically you are all being ripped off.

most tackle shops put 75 percent mark up on items including bait thats what we pay for

That is because Carp angling is the most popular part of angling and the tackle dealers/ outlets are exploiting it. I used to buy useful tackle and as soon as the word Carp went on to it the price rose by 300% for exactly the same product. I suppose that is business.... the same happened to some waters I used to fish, RMC ones included.... large carp then syndicate. It is life I am affraid.
