Im in to minds as whether to get a Sod Pod or simmilar or go with a stailess goalpost setup?
What would you advise?

Hiya, personally I spose it depends on what you are doing with them. The goal post set up is much sturdyer than the pod but if you use one of those H shaped things. (cant remember what theyre called) to bolt the pod to the ground then it would be more sturdy. The pod however will stand in or on the ground of swims where you cant get sticks in but I nearly always use banksticks of one sort or the other unless the swim has a concrete or wooden floor to it then I have to use my pod. Not a lot of help there am i lol

I will go for a pod every time, make sure it is secure. I use bank sticks or bungees for this with tent pegs. It is neater and easier to get to. I use bank sticks on a river and if I am fishing in 2 different directions as I like to point my rods at my baits. You really need both to be honest but if you are goning to go for just one for flexibility bank sticks, for organised fishing rod pods.

In my view, you need both. The lakes i fish the swims and angling situations are very different. I have both, a fox euro pod and fox single banksticks.
Its a bit of an expense buying 8 banksticks for my 4 rods, but well worth it.

I agree!
Banksticks are SO versatile. If you like to keep the rods pointed at the bait and cast somewhere else they can be move in seconds.
I do have a pod that sees daylight every now and then if
1) the banks are too hard or platforms etc.. and
2) I feel that after carrying it around every session I ought to use the damn thing every now and then!

I use both a Solar Sod Pod for hard banks and banksticks for snag fishing because I fish every thing tight I don't want my pod dragged in the middle of the night and I use bansticks for when I'm catfishing for the same reason as for when I'm snag fishing.

Lofte if youre going to fish the match lake, then a lot of the time you will be snag fishing.
Banksticks are much better for this purpouse and a pod can easily get pulled over/sideways. Fishing banksticks lets you fish 99%locked up providing you have a good back grip too.
One other thing it wold be a good idea to get an extra bankstick or 2 to use if you are locked up at an angle where the rod can be pulled off the alarm.
Also if it is only yately youre going to fish the really I dont know of any swims on there where you are going to need a pod unless the ground is frozen solid.
