Lure fishing

Hiya Chaps and chappetties,

I have been lucky enough to have been sent around 50 odd Rapalas, lures, spinners etc from some nice chaps in the states.

I went off to try a few of these out the other day and I had a small jack, one of around twelve pounds and lost a lump too.

What I would like to know though, is there any way around weed problems? The water in question has near enough solid weed for a rod length or two from the bank. It is a reservoir and so only the margins are affected. Each time you wind in it is a nightmare, any ideas?

Also any help with ideas on lure fishing would be gratefully received as I have only been the once and I am open to suggestions and ideas if any of you are experts on this topic??

There is not a lot you can do - except hope the lure gets hammered before it reaches the weed. There are available weedless lures - usually single hooked with a wire resting on the barb but still not 100% effective or you could try substituting the trebles for singles but the hook up rate wont be as good and it wil still get weeded!
