Fished Braintree stretch (fairview) yesterday evening.

Lots of small roach and perch. Caught a roach of 1 1/4 lb.

Do you know what stretches of The Blackwater can be fished on just a Rod Licence ? I live in Witham but have only fished The Brain, next time you fancy a trip out I would be happy to join you.

Had a dabble on The Essex Blackwater on Monday 29/11 - several nice chub to 3lb, a couple of 1lb + perch, loads and loads of gudgeon and suprisingly a few decent roach to 10oz or so.

Figures crossed for a good winters fishing !

join the chelmer black water navigation angling club. its only £50 a year and gives you 14 miles of river to explore. all these stretches are also available on dayticket at about £8 a day
