View Full Version : small problem....
I have a small logging out problem on this site only....
I use three different PC's to access the site usually; my home PC, and two at work. The PC at home I leave logged on all the time, the two at work I logoff when finished, for obvious reasons. However, the ones at work, when re-accessing the site through the favourites or address pulldown, seem to log me back in automatically. I assume there is a setting somewhere I can change to avoid this happening (although this is the only site it happens on)......so can you tell me where I can find it......I am using Windows NT at work by the way.
Hi Simon,
In IE5 there is a save password facility, if you have that enabled it will save any passwords you use when logging on to sites, maybe you have this enabled. The other thing is that when logging on I am not sure if there is a small box to tick that says save password, if there is untick this and you will have to put in your password every time you log on. I presume you are worried about automatically loggin on and someone accessing the site. If you explain a bit more exactly what is happeneing I am sure Bill will know more about it than me. Try private messaging Billyo. I may have misunderstood what you are asking. Do you mean that the RMC site is now your homepage when logging onto the Internet?
Tony
Hi Simon,
I thought you were a techy ? Anyway, if I understand you correctly have you tried deleting your history/temporary internet files/cookies ?
Bill.
hmmm....thanks for the replies....I don't think that I have explained myself that brilliantly, I have already looked for all the things that you have correctly mentioned, and at the moment it still remains a mystery...the 2 PC's at work are side by side, and are supposed to be cloned....I may well have overlooked something very elimentary, but I don't think so. Yes, deleting all history/temp files & cookies will work, but I don't think this should be necessary, and it doesn't explain why this happens on one PC and not the other????
Like I say, I am very careful at work so I never 'check' the save password boxes etc.
Anyway, I'll triple check all the settings & make sure I'm not being a pratt.
Thanks once again for the replies.....
Billyo,
Still having this problem, even if I delete the temp files etc. Would it be something to do with Windows NT or the server I pass through maybe?....If you get any ideas I'd like to know...its bugging me....especially when a collegue of mine changed my user profile recently.....hmmmmm
...Sorry, but also, if I'm using one machine & someone starts up the other, finds my profile logged on, then loggs me off that machine...the machine I'm using will revert all posts that I have read that day back to unread...most annoying when you have just caught up on a couple of days worth! It even happens when my profile has been logged out correctly and all temp/history files are deleted???
Must be just an NT thing?
