Hello Everyone

I will be fishing on the south lake this weekend and was just wondering if there is any info that would help me catch that 20lber I want so badly. I have never fished any RMC waters but I have heard through the grapevine that the swims are named. Does anyone know what swims have been producing well this year? Also has any baits that anyone's used seem to be working better than others at the moment?

Also if there is anything anyone feels I should be aware of before I go down there, please feel free to let me know.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers

its more likely to be a case of fish where you can!
the south's normally busy at weekends - do you know how many are booked on??

found this on www.yateleyangling.co.uk (http://www.yateleyangling.co.uk)

""Nutrabaits Cream Cajousers have an excellent track record on the venue and you should not go too far wrong with these at your disposal. Yateley Angling Centre ASAP boilies have also accounted for numerous carp from the fishery.

Small beds of bait have been most productive on the fishery during the past couple of seasons and a pop-up over a small pva stocking of trout pellet and chopped boilies has accounted for numerous catches. The method feeder and stringers can also work very well.

Large beds of bait tend to spook the fish, so err on the side of caution and only introduce more bait if you are certain that you have large numbers of fish in front of you.
Winter carp fishing can be good with fluorescent pop-ups in conjuction with tiny pva bags of pellet working particularly well. """

There are roughly 30 swims on the lake but only 20 are allowed on the lake at any time.. I would try and get on the spit.. The boss, twin bars have a lot of open water in front of them loads of options

Dont bait too heavily maybe a bag of something with a bit of corn on the hook.. Try and avoid the main bay (No Carp bay) if there are a lot of lines in there.. Coz they dont like it http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

There is a max of 20 allowed on. I'd suggest you get down there as early as possible. The disabled swims, the point have all been fishing well. I had a few out of the channel swim. Which is not that popolar. Fish locked up just to the right to the snags infront of you. And put one down the channel (not up the tree http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif )

Most fish were being caught on method feeders/bombs and maize/fake maize.

Always fish in the snag swim 9back of the point) only fishable during the day but if you get there early and it's free it's always worth a go. Just make sure you're on you rods at all times. Again fish locked up.

The fish do show themselves so keep your eyes open and it's deffo worth putting a bait to these fish.

I personally would use the method and keep it casting regularly, every 2 hours or so. A nice smelly groundbait dynamites betain black/green swim stim/fish meal/ground pellet with added hemp, mini pellet a bit of tuna and if you can get it some lumpfish caviar (secret ingredient http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif )

A short stiff hooklength and a bit of yellow plastic or grain of maize/sweetcorn.

Good luck

Take Singy's advice the man is a scouse legend, kind of like Gazza of the fishing world (although he was a Geordie....so maybe like Ian Rush http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif)....don't pay any notice of what Dean says, like me, we like to blank on the South http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif (although he does speak wisely about No Carp Bay (thats the bay from the swim called 'The last post' (I think) around to the ladder. I didn't managed to land a fish (oh the shame), but I had two runs on tuttis fishing the stick method, so that maybe worth a chuck if you fancy a change of tactic.

Good luck http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

In your opinion, where would you all suggest we head for? There is 2 of us and we are there until Sunday morning. I know you all said it may be a case of fishing where you can but we are aiming to get there as early as possible to increase our chances of getting a decent swim so any suggestions would be appreciated.

My fiance likes the look of the car park swim! Is this a productive swim?

Don't decide until you get there. Have a quick walk around with a bit of your tackle. Look for fish, look for features, talk to other anglers (if they are awake) settle on a swim then fetch the rest of your gear from the car. If you can, get the estra £5 ticket for sunday and fish after everyone leaves. This is the best time IMO.

Woody you are a cheeky monkey.. But your words are true we are pony on the south and we have to live with that shame / burden for a long long time

Car Park swims are good.. Although they are disabled so you may have to move if someone is disabled wants to fish that swim i belive..

Look for the fish would be the best bit of advice.. They should have woke up a bit since we fished at the beginning of August therefore up for a bit of grub.. Listen and speak to the baliffs there are known producing spots in each swim and if you ask nicely (in your case just smile as your a lady) then these spots will be revealed it is in their interests for you too catch at the end of the day as you do well you may be back for more = more revenue

Sorry Guys, just one more thing.

I have had several swims mentioned, do you happen to know what the numbers are for the following:
Matts Corner
The Boss
Foards Gap
Coffee & Scones
Or any other swims that you know the names of, just so I can get a rough idea about where they are on the lake.

Cheers for all of you help

All the swims are clearly signposted so its easy enough to find a swim, but from memory....as you drive up you have the two carpark swims in front of you. Walking around the lake to the right you come across a few more...one is called the short chuck I believe...there are about 4/5? swims along this bank...last one is called the nightmare? or the graveyard? can't remember...then its round to the Matts Corner and a couple of others eventually you get to a place where a pier/spit goes out into the main lake. Along this split towards the main lake you have the bars, the boss and the point and fishing into the back bay you have the snags - good swim but day fishing only. back off the spit and continuing anticlockwise you hit the back bay swim this bay is split up by a series of islands which creates channels and another part of the lake. In the back bay there are 4 swims, I think including the channel that Singy was talking about. You then have the ladder, which is the first swim in the "other bay" some call it no carp bay http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/laugh.gif and a load of others bending back round towards the car park again which is the house bank. THis has the coffees and scones on.

Basically every single swim has a feature in, be it the islands, channels, bars, etc. The most popular swims are the ones along the spit/pier because it gives you loads of options, island, bars, snag swim - but don't turn up determined to fish a particular swim. Like Singy says, take a walk round and make a decision then. The South's residents like to show themselves a little bit (and this was when I fished it in Jan and April) so if its a little warmer, I'm sure you'll have no problems spotting them

Good luck.. http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It should be! Some good snags on the island in front of it and a bar that goes across about 40 yards out. Managed to sit on a shedful of carp in that swim on my swervy night and caught naff all! http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I believe Pukkarooney had a few out of it that weekend though

Yeah, we had a good 24 hour session.
1st cast we had a tench of 4lb and then 6 hours later another tench of 3lb and then nothing for the rest of the session. At least we didn't blank which I was pleased about.

Was a lovely water, friendly baliff's. Will definately be going again.

Which swim did you get on in the end?

Well done on catching Mr Tench....better than I managed on! Did you get a chance to speak with pukkarooney? http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Decided on The Channel (20). Pukkarooney came around about 12pm, lovely chap and ever so friendly. Then we saw him again as we left on the bank, with his thermals on. He was with a chap in the short chuck who had just had a 24lb common. http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif (That one had my name on it but it must have got confused as to where I was fishing, still hopefully next time)

There was a marker float in the tree but I didn't see any method feeders hanging from any trees.
