Last year I tried Ryemeads, River Stort as a change to the Green.
It really is a pretty length of water, on week days it's empty, the Chub go to 5lbs, Roach 11/2lbs and Perch to 3lbs.
Fish It light, all the usual baits work and lock up your car.
Best of luck

Bob,
Did you see any big carp in the stort, heard of a few big commons along the harlow strech. (there's always a big common ain't there!).

Paulm,
The river that flows around Ryemeads is a tributary of the Stort canal which has a reputation of holding some very large carp, as does the Lee navigation which it flows into.

fisherOfcarp,
I fish around the Feilds Weir area, thats one up from Dobbs Weir for Pike and Chub.
There are 20s possibly 30ty lb carp on the Lee and in the Weir, it gets very little pressure from carp anglers.
The Weir even did two 10+ pound Zander last year , it's got to be a starting place for the exploring, fit carp angler.

Rivercarper,
Take your point mate, these river carp do seem to move around a lot.
Would it be right to say you have got to find them first and then hold the carp in that area by heavy pre baiting.
Or would you use little bait and follow the fish.

Pre baiting is the key to catching consitantly on the rivers but with some where like the channel it is possible to find the fish first and secondly they never seem to stray far on the relief.I have only spent three nights on there but have caught every time which tells me there is a high population of fish moving up and down the channel. On those three nights I caught from top middle and bottom so they are along the whole length. It will be interesting this year to spend more time there. Will phone you and speak about it.If gary wants to have a serious go then we can help each other.

Rivercarper,
Interesting, when I fished it for carp there were some main feeding area's, around the road bridge, up in the weir pool and sometimes oppersite the bird sanctury.
In those days we used a lot of tiger nuts which seemed to spred the fish around.
I'm doing a nights carp fishing tomorrow (not sure where) with Gary , I will pass on your suggestion.
Thanks

The possible reason for tigers spreading the fish around could be that when eaten they pass through the fish in large lumps or whole even and then are passed out all over the place and reeaten not a nice thought but true.

Clive,
The rain really has made the rivers hard work since autumn, still you have to give it a go with only a few days left of the season.
I dont know if this is your first try at Ryemeads, but it is a lovely little river in normal conditions.
We will just have to look forward to next season.

Bob,
Have fished Ryemeads for a few seasons now, great place, it's got a slightly wild feel to it.. not to manicured! The river and the pits have some lovely fish in them, even though they some finding!
