View Full Version : Sponsors
I just wanted to know if any of you guys out there are field testers and if so how did you get the job I have written to a few big companies like Richworth but most of them just say we'll keep you in mind if we need any field testers the only company that has given me a deal is Yateley Angling Centre due to the fact that I won the Horseshoe junior fish-in. looking foward to hearing from you all.

Hiya Alex,
Normally someone has to either prove themselves to be consistant catchers of biggish carp to get bait and tackle deals or if you are lucky enough to make friends with someone who owns or runs a firm then that could be a way in too. Some bait firms will give you quite good discounts if they think you are worthy and obviously if you are in the business then you may get things to review and the like. Apart from that I am afraid I cant help you.
Good luck with it anyhow.
PS Was that you in the Anglers Mail this week??
Call tails up the numbers on another post.
I wish it was me in the Anglers mail mate but I hav'nt had a chance to go fishing for a while after a foot ball injury I have only appered in the anglers times after my haul at Horseshoe they even got that wrong they missed out four of my fish but it was a nice photo but keep an eye out that will all change once I'm back on my feet I should be going tomorrow to Old Bury Hill for a short session hopefully luck will be on my side and you never know I might start catching again and I might be able to get a sponsor by next season for when I fish Yateley.
I field test for ESSENTIAL baits, All i did was write Mike a letter , telling him where i am fishing at the moment( write your letter on a computer. This is better than hand written, well it is if your handwriting is likemine)
Also include some photo's of some of the fish you have caught,Lastly include a s.a.e so the company in question can reply to you with the minimum of hassle.
Also don't forget you don't have to be using a massive amount of bait to be considered for a field testing job, just a little bit of advertising of your fish when you catch them.
Hope this helps......MAXIMUS
Cheers for the advice guys but the other day I got a field testing job but I would still like to hear about other peoples sponsors.
I work for ian who is the southeren boss of north and south baits.

Not an easy one to answer this one. You can send in review type pieces to the mags but obviously you would have to get hold of the product which would entail a financial lay out. But if they liked your reviews then they well send you stuff to do so you can write it up for them.
A different way of doing the same sort of thing is the obvious but not so easy way. You have to either have some sort of business ie a way of advertising the manufacturers products or be in the papers quite a lot and then you will get sent stuff to try and then write about.
It is not really as easy at it looks to get into. You could try ringing around some of the mags as well, but I havent a clue whether they would need new people who they didnt already know. When you read the reviews it is quite often the same people who write most of them.
Havent been very helpful here sorry, but good luck with it.
Andy
