View Full Version : Fermented particles
Just a quick one about fermenting tigers, I've had success with maize before but when I tried it with tigers it stank *really* bad! Was I doing something wrong?

Hi cheapskate,
I'll let you Know how i prepare my tigers.
First they are soaked for 2-3 days, then boiled for about 40mins. Once boiled i put them in a air tight bucket + water left over from boiling, and place it in my mums airing cupboard (without her knowing) and leave them to ferment and go all 'snotty'.
This is how i use mine, but i know of people who have left them longer till they start to stink before they use them. They also catch using them like this.
Just a quick point, if you are going to use tigers, from my experience use them sparingly (don't pile them in). As the carp will eat them up them crap them out, and eat them again, etc..etc..

Tigers are a brilliant bait for carp but as has been mentioned the fish do tend to re-eat them until they are no longer any good for them. From talking to experienced carpers about these nuts I have found out that they tend to feel happier about them the more stinky and longer they have been fermenting. Another tip here is to mix them with hemp once you have fermented the tigers and then you wont have to use so many. I have seen this method of using tigers and hemp empty places before. About one fifth tigers to hemp is apparantly a good mix. Anyway good luck with it.
