I will start by saying sorry to Bob as he has been pushing me to put this on the forum ' Over the last couple of years i have been seeing the catfish in the boat pool getting bigger and bigger. This has lead me to become good friends with some of these anglers. You would just not believe what the size of some of these Catfish are , with this in mind i started to badger them to see if they had a spare place for a fat four eyed middle age skinhead to my surprize they said yes . Before they could change there mindi had to rods built by my trusted old friend Tony Parker and my big pit reels loaded with 80 lb braid, now were are we going then ' no only joking the River Ebro were - Spain to you ' OK then. Plane tickets booked and car hire over the Net all we needed was to get to heathrow on time job done.
As for the four of us thee were cat anglers and there is me part time carp angler and part time drunk, Bob and Leroy had been abroad before and had cats to 143lb so i was in good hands . The fourth member was barbie he is a top angler and is one of the Bailiffs on adams mill so it was going to be a good trip but i will have to tell you about barbie he is the smartest dressed cat angler i have ever seen, he could fish for week and look like he was going to a wedding .
On landing we came out of the departure lounge straight out to Hertz to pick up the car then we had a 2 hour drive down to the camp. Well when we pulled up at the camp we were met by Gary Allen one of the guides. He was getting our boats ready for us, hand shakes done we signed in with our hosts the Bavarian Guiding Servies yes they are German and they all speek english. Now this place was out of this world Log cabins 40ft pine trees and Doves & Gold Finches every were and all this on the banks of one of the most beautiful river and land scape you will ever see or fish . Trust me Horton is the Kew Gardens of English fishing but this place is knocking at heavens door. The cabins can sleep four and there is a lodge were you can cook it has four massive fridges filled to the brim with ice cold beer and soft drinks. This was the best part you ticked what drinks you had next to your name and payed at the end of your stay. Bait and tackle are can be purchased on site or hired ,
Now i will tell you a little about the fishing as i am going to write about it later on . The first week was slow with just 2 cats landed 1 = 40lb / 1 = 86lb with a couple of cats lost but the second week it cam alive with 50 cats in total to a grand total of 3164lb of catfish with 9 of these being over the magic ton . We were looked after by Gary and the Bavarian Guiding servies and the people of Mequinenza that i am on my way back in September, the river has produced carp to sixty and zander to twenty if you are after info ring spain on

Just make sure the 130lb braid doesn't get snapped next time. (like the 80lb braid did)

Race you for a 150lb+

Sounds like it was a brilliant trip! Look forward to the full length version (even though this is the longest opening thread in history) and the pictures on the Angling Diary..
Re Kingsmead, think I saw one of the biggies amongst a small group floating around the bay between Dog Kennel and the bridge at Kingsmead on Tuesday night, mind you, not surprisingly they disappeared once my angling mate had lobbed his house brick of a method feeder in their general direction - it must be similar to a double decker bus falling out of the sky into your back garden!!! No wonder I recorded my third Kingsmead blank in a row - hope to get back soon.
