Following on from the hugely successful trip i have decided to tell all forum members of what not to do on the South lake..

Myself and fellow forum member Woody69 had our planned trip and nothing and i mean nothing was going to get in our way. Leaving our warm homes on Thursday morning last week day dreaming about the monsters in the South Lake. We arrived releived after battering our way through the snow the good news was part of the lake was frozen so we could hatch our secret plans and really show em how its done.. Alas the fish that first day did not want to play ball.. Although i had a couple of tenchy rolls on my middle rod so i remained optimistic..
We shortly retired to our homes my sun roof titan with the patched up roof really looked the biz i can tell ya.. Still it was cold so i buried myself in the bag. Around mid night i had an absolute belter on the right hand rod only to realise that the ice the other side of the lake had taken my line out.. Still the adrenalin rush came and that is what its all about just needed a real run to make it count. It didnt come that night although i had many a beep as my lines slowly froze into the lake.. Damn those Delkims and there sensitivity.

I awoke the Friday morning refreshed and cold but the lake was frozen. However its not all bad and was starting to Thaw.. Woody said his swim was frozen. When i had a look it wasnt so he really has no excuse that night for blanking.

I then had a wonder plan and suggested to Woody we try and tempt a carp off the top.. They seemed up for it and after all i like to be a bit different see pictures for what i mean this could make a difference to your season..

Unfortunately it didnt work don't know whether the bed of bait put them off (apparantly beds of bait don't work) Or i didnt give it enough time..

I personally blame the balliff for going out in the boat and smashing the ice ruining mine and Woody's master plan it was beleive it or not coming together we had put every part of that Jigsaw together and then someone had come and stole the corners.. The baliff was ok by the way we liked him a lot mainly because he chose to fish in such rubbish conditions as well but it did seem he pitied us and felt sorry for us.

The next step was for Woody to try his hand at the pike two tentative pick ups later (NO CONNECTION) i might add and we resigned ourselves to our homes again but this time defeated very withdrawn and close to tears.. That was almost the end of the trip packing up early Saturday morning in gale conditions and pi55ing down rain.. We enjoyed it immensley

And that People is all i have to say about the South lake we will be back in March trying our best as usual and would like to thank Woody for an enjoyable few days fishing had many a laugh and your secrets our safe with me.. LOL

Mr Dean, a quality piece of writing there, only shy of a few of the facts...

The baliff was a top fella, mainly by the way he said "pukkarooney" several times in conversation.....now thats a word I don't use enough...

You forgot to mention I had a slow take on the Friday night....the swinger moved up slightly and I got a couple of beeps...so I struck only for the line to snap!? http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/mad.gif I can only assume the backlead was caught on a snag or something as that is roughly where the line gave...Tutti snowman was the winning combination...then again it was probably a duck!!

The pike pickups were from a paternostered trout dead and a free running lead bottom presented Sprat from the Snags swim... I wound down to strike and they must have just dropped the bait....DAMN!!

Even though I didn't catch it was really good to get out again...it had been far too long! Yes we will be back in March and I'm sure with the weather more on our side we would of emptied the place! Oh yes....

I look forward to the North vrs South match....if I'm invited of course!! http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Not sure what secrets you are referring to Mr Dean....oh yeah...and I wasn't even drinking! http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Pukkarooney! I hope I am also invited to the battle of the North/South! Me an Chesh are a bit rusty (me especially) so it shouldnt be much of a contest! (just taking the expection and pressure off us Chesh!) By the sounds of their last visit they have already sorted some pukkarooney tactics to win the battle!

Looking forward to returning to the End Post to land that 20 I had last year!

Opening up a can of whopp a**e you can see we are dangerous on the South..
