Any advice on methods going swims etc..

Most importantly going to get tickets from the shop can i still do so this was the case a couple of years ago or do i have to phone rmc, online, etc..

I would appreciate the help lads me and woody received nothing for christmas this year so if you could help us we would be very grateful http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Deeeeeeeeeeeeeanoooooooooooooo - I was going to suggest we put a post on this forum pretty soon, well done my son! http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

From the complete lack of responses, I would make the assumption that nobody is fishing the South! Thats good news for us....we're empty the place, oh yes! http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif Alternatively everyone might be fishing it, but because they've blanked they've now lost all interest... Hmmm an interesting point to ponder!

Now don't lie son, you did get a hot water bottle for Christmas... http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'll give the shop a ring on the day before we go and find out whats "hot" and whats not etc...Whats the deal with tickets? Is Ian saying we HAVE to ring in advance or can we just turn up? http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Woody we wll go to the shop at 9 on the date that you know cant say the date coz of the autograph hunters that we will have to endure.. They will say whats hot and whats not.. Buy a bit of this and that everyone's a winner

Not a lot of comments on the south coz its hush hush but someone i have heard has been doing very very well.. I will find this someone take him / her hostage and keep him / her in my boot of my car for 48 hours until i have finished my session then they can carry on emptying the place

Oh yes and my fleece lined hot water bottle will be out at the session..

Has anyone got any ideas on the Pike potential?? Are there any now that was a sensible question!!

Dean, not sure how busy it is at the moment, but you can book your place I believe or buy tickets before you go anyway, It's a good winter water and the pike although not huge are around, there is one that used to swim around the top some years ago so easy to spot, a fair few upper doubles !

Its worthing phoneing the shop to check numbers on the lake first, if its busy book them before you get there, you can pay for them over the phone and then pick them up from the shop, ive turned up on the day and not been able to get a ticket in the past. altough if your fishing midweek should be ok!

Fishing on a Thursday and Friday at the end of January there arent that many people as stupid as me out there

I'm out to help Dean shatter his Pike PB (all 4lbs of it) - what baits would you reccommend? Do you think I should take all possibilities to cover my bases, or does one particular type seem to rule all? E.g sea / coarse deads or perhaps I should pack my float rod and try to catch a few livelies? http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Oh well done Dean...now I'm gonna have to go disguised so the autograph hunters don't bother us...I suggest you do the same! http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

And what would your plan of attack be Daymon by chance

Just curious need some ideas in my head..

Woody thinking of going to the lake looking like a hedgehog so no one recognises that i am even human and then blending in with the countryside that is Yately.. Also don't mention my Pike Pb its embarassing i mean 4lb i might add i have never really fished for them but caught a few by accident..

Woody69

Sorry mate, did I put 4lb? http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif Slip of the key, I forgot the extra 4....44lb, now thats more like it....reckon we could beat that at Yately? http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I like the hedgehog idea...I thought of going as a grazing antelope, but I then realised that they are not indigenous to our native Britain and I might get shot http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif so I've opted for badger suit....Reckon we're gonna be the next Batman and Robin? You're Hedgehog and I'm the Badger wonder... http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

So is anyone going to help the Yately road kill lookalikes http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Like trying to get blood out of a stone.. Don't worry Woody we will be alright.. Reckon just take a few walkies round the lake and take it from there with the turn your back blind chuck when in the swim.. Shortly followed by my lovely titan with Sun roof and a nice meal of worms for tea coz i am a hedgehog http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I can't help with the Pike, but for the Carp; keep things simple, don't go mad with the bait a nice small/medium PVa bag of pellets and either maize/bolie/pellet over the top should set you on your way. before fishing have a good walk round. Also the balifs are a top bunch and will help you out if all else fails!!!

DeanOr
09-01-2004, 12:38
Cheers Daymon thats what i thought only fishing one rod for the Pike the others will be for the Carp.. Keep it simple then pellets in a bag and hookbait.. Any known Winter Swims.. Or do they keep on the move in the winter what with the bait relatively going in

Daymon

Best bet is to talk to the bailifs, I haven't been able to get down there since the end of October so not up to date on any news really. If you can get in the swim, the car park might be worth ago, nice cast to tree lined island and theres two swims next to each other, but your best bet would be to have a walk round.

I would only use deads, I never use livelies

DeanOr
13-01-2004, 10:09
And do you know anything about the carp OneToner can remember you saying it is difficult to blank on the lake.. So you must know a little http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Deads is the way we are going

Dean,
Just watch the water and look at the obvious features, then put a *little* bait to it, pva bags, method with single grains of corn, chopped boilie, maggots etc.
Be mobile, and cast regular - it is difficult to blank!! (But can be done!)

DeanOr

Cheers cash.. Keep mobile going for two nights that might be difficult but i shall try

One Toner, you say you would never use livelies....is that a personal preference in terms of you don't use them anywhere, or just one for the South? I would tend to use deads, but I will switch to lives if thats not producing...Have you ever used lives on the south? http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It certainly can! blanked there a coupla weeks ago. similar methods - method feeder on 1 with popped-up artificial maize, little pva bags w pellets n chops on t'others. Lost one though, in the Coffee & Scones swim. it was only a tiddler tho. Was down for just one night, and felt that if i'd had a bit more time...... i always say that!! http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
